We share a certain attitude toward the Arrogant Asses in Ann Arbor. We cost you the national championship in 1998, when you were clearly the best team (gloat), but I rooted like hell for you against Miami when you took the brass ring. I was a student then, season tickets for MSU, and Ohio State was awesome and undefeated until Levi Jackson broke one for 80+ yards to beat you guys. Sweet. Woody wasn't happy (surprise!) Now that I am a proud and supportive member of AARP, I look back and say, I really liked that we took the national championship from you guys. I hope you go 11-1 this season (that means beating U-M, and Texas - go Big Ten), and that Drew Stanton fillets you like a fish.

Too old for tail Gates, but I try and catch as many games as possible....

When I was a youngin', they only televised one game a year. The NCAA had a rule that teams could only be on the national tube one time other than a bowl game. That's why the big rivalries played out as they have....

ABC owned the rights to all non bowl games and so, every saturday, they would broadcast one big game and several regionals.

Notre Dame, because they weren't in a conference, bolted to NBC and challenged the rule which of course violated about a million anti-trust provisions, paving the way for ESPN, NBC ad CBS...

Mainly ESPN. They just reported on games before the ruling. Now they broadcast games and we all get to see hundreds and thousands of hours of football each year....

Ran away from it as soon as I finished high school, lived all over the world before things just fell into place in a way where returning to the Deep South was best for me and my family.

I'll say this...it was growing up in the South that gave me my love for NCAA football (and other NCAA sports, for that matter!).

Speaking of football - holy moly! I just watched the end of the BIG GAME between Cal and Stanford (what year was it, '74) where Cal pulled an upset in the last seconds with the most astonishing run to the end zone in college football history. How many laterals was that, anyway?
