jpg is lossy, but full color. GIF is not lossy, but only 256 colors. PNG is full color and not lossy.

5. It means that every time you change and save the image, you lose quality.
That's why JPG files are so small... they use visual tricks and remove parts of the file that the human eye won't notice. Same thing as MP3/WMA and pretty much all audio/video formats. Each time you change it and save it, the quality gets worse.

7. .PNG is my format of choice
Best quality and colour for the file size. but if I must I'll use .JPG .GIF is only one that can do animations so that's a plus, and it's small size makes it ideal for say, DU or AIM avatars
