I stumbled upon this site.. It's a very well-written one, that pretty much sums up the way life used to be..before we started down the trail of rampant consumerism.. There are some wonderful old pictures too

1. Some things were better, some were much worse...
women's rights, race relations, education, and so on have come a LONG way since 1940.
