Is a dollar raise in 5 months at a new job really good or what?
I've been at my job since February, but started as a temp. actually i worked for them last summer as a temp too, and always wanted to go back. i got called back in this past February, then got hired perm. in May.

i just got a dollar raise on Friday and was told i was doing a great job and my boss wanted to make sure i didn't go anywhere, so he gave me a raise.

is a dollar raise good? i mean i know it's good, but is that a sign that i'm *really* doing a good job?

1. YES
But considering I get perhaps 20-30 cents a year (if I'm lucky) as a "Cost Of Living Adjustment" I may be a biased source.

4. Yes!
I got bumped $1.25 after a month at a temp job...they lovvvved me! They won't give an extra dime to a temp unless they think you're worth it.

5. I suppose it depends on the percentage increase
but very few raises are actually bad. If you are making, say, $15/hour or less then I personally would consider it to be pretty darn good. You might want to take advantage of your bosses good intentions to air any little complaints you may have about the workplace...

Congratulations!

6. thank you!
yeah i do make less than $15/hr.

the best part is, i am for review in february so i could get another raise, they do reviews every year and if your manager approves, you get a raise. if i keep working as hard as i have been or harder, i could get another dollar. :)

7. Well, considering....
A month's worth of groceries for yourself has been taken care of

or

You and whomever can have a meal at a nice restaurant once a week

or

Phone, internet, and cable with a few premium channels can be removed from your monthly budgeting concerns

I'd say yeah, you got a good raise. Congratulations!
