3. Start with "For Immediate Release" and then

tell the story, but hype the hell out of it and provide contact info at the bottom. Think the written equivalent of sound bites -- punchy, concise, and compelling.

It's for an event at a convention. The guy in charge of the con told us to make a press release for the event.

Just remember that this isn't an ad, it's a press release which means you want to treat it more like a news story. In the first paragraph, answer the Who What Where Why in the first paragraph without embellishment. When in doubt, apply the KISS method (Keep It Simple Stupid).
