Holy shit. I just saw a lady (pedestrian) get hit by a car.
:scared:

Fortunately, I had my cell with me and called 911.

The lady was crossing against the light, the lady in the car was driving with ice on her windshield. Neither one of them was paying attention.

As far as I could tell when they got her on the ambulance, it looks like she got away with a broken arm and dislocated shoulder, but what do I know, that's just what it LOOKED like to me.

:(

1. Those types of things always leave me with a cold cold
feeling from the inside out. Oh my nerves get shot when I see something like that. Glad you called 911 for her.

3. I also called her work for her (at her request) and let them know what
was happening. They're going to call me and let me know how she's doing once they hear.

Anybody that wants to send out good vibes, prayers, what have you to Debbie in Lowell, please do. :(

2. That stinks!

Hope she is okay, and the driver has good insurance.

4. I can't totally fault the driver to be honest.
The lady was walking across a busy intersection against the light. The car had the green light. Neither of them was paying attention.

Legally, yeah, the driver is at fault, but personally, I can't say it's 100% her fault. I feel sorry for both of them to be honest :(.

5. Oh I agree
but realistically, the driver's insurance will get dinged hard on this one.

6. I know. It's ridiculous though.
Maybe they should require "walkin' around" insurance eh?

12. That is an idea......
People do stupid stuff and then sue someone who would have been otherwise innocent if not for a momentary lack of concentration. The guy that ran into my shopping cart yesterday should buy a "walking around with his head up his butt insurance". I was walking out of the store behind him and he must have forgot something because he did a quick 180 and walked right into my cart. Luckily I was able to stop before he hit it. (he didn't get hurt THIS time)

7. At least the driver stopped.
Hit and run is becoming a sport around here.

I'm sorry you had such a bum start to your day. Glad you could help, though!

8. Yeah, the first question the 911 operator asked "is the car still there"
It wasn't really a bum start, just a shocker. For me, the worst part was freezing my ass off while trying to make sure the lady was conscious, call 911, give the police a report, etc. Stuff like that will usually put me back into military mode from my time in the Army, just stay cool, calm and collected and do what needs to be done.

I did drive more slowly and cautiously on my way to work though.

9. The lady was crossing against the light
Hence: her own damn fault.

10. Well, when you couple that with the driver having her vision obscured
because she didn't scrape the ice off her windows, I'd say it's a pretty equal split.

11. I hope she'll be ok.
Let's hope they both learned a lesson from it all. People in a hurry often don't pay attention and unfortunately that's how accidents happen.

Glad you were there to assist.
