Introducing myself officially to y'all
Hello, I'm a newbie to DU, almost 33, living in SF, passionate about politics, baking and enjoying life. :bounce:

I guess I'll start with a question for all of you, and go ahead and ask me anything (well, almost, LOL).

What book are you currently reading?

2. Hi, weeble.
Welcome to DU. :hi: Right now at this minute (besides DU) I'm reading a vegetarian cookbook I got for Christmas. I'm not vegetarian, but it's got a lot of good ideas in it.

What is your favorite thing to bake?

6. do you ever bike across the golden gate bridge
Every time I'm in SF, I see the bridge and just wish to hell I could hit it on a long, lazy bike ride :)

Alas, I'm not reading a complete book right now, but rather excerpts of The Dialect of Modernism, by Michael North.

Welcome to DU :hi:

well, the midwest, anyway, and the weather here actually looks vaguely san franciscan today, but I don't mind. :)

I've walked the bridge a few times. It sure is gorgeous. Next time I go, I'm renting a bike, though :)

37. Welcome, Weeble.
Glad you came by. SF is one of our favorite places on the planet. I used to live in Berkeley during '68 but only visited SF about five years ago. Muir Woods, a place of magic; a boatride in the bay; watching the sea lions; driving through Gateway Park; walking the beach. We had one of our all time favorite meals at a vegan/ Indian too I think place across the street from the post office downtown.

We live south of Pittsburgh, PA. I'm into music myself, mostly roots of any kind. I do counseling and teach meditation. My wife's a computer geek and is reading about accessing spiritual planes. I'm not reading anything at this time. I have my eye on the root vegetable soup I'm making. It'll be ready soon. Come on over for a big bowl. You want bread and butter with that.

Looking forward to seeing you around. :hi: :donut:

53. "The Singularity is Near" by Ray Kurzweil
The Singularity is an interesting theory, although I'm not sure I'm entirely on board. It may well turn out to happen that the post-human era will come as a result of the combination of machine and human intelligence, but it would certainly be a deviation from the usual evolutionary order of things, and these sorts of things have a way of screwing themselves up.
