One of these passed me at about 90+ mph today,
and when you can drop $332,500 for a BASE model, a little speeding ticket won't hurt too badly.

1. Doesn't Germany have sliding scale fees based on income?
That sounds like a good system they have there.

2. $332,500?
You have got to be kidding me! Do you know how many Hummers and 'Vettes you could buy for that?

5. A bunch.
I really never expected to see one on the road, and when I was passing someone at 80 and this thing came up on me like I was not moving, I took note.

7. Forgive my ignorance, Dave...
but just what the hell is that thing? I've never seen one (to my knowledge) until you posted this. It just kind of looks like a Saturn or something to me.

8. It is a Maybach 57,
a very rare breed of luxury sedan. The picture does not show how damn big the thing is, damn near as long as a pickup.

This was the first I had seen outside of pics, and it was carrying IL plates. My guess it was someone on their way to Detroit for the Super Bowl.

6. I've seen photos of the inside,
if only more vehicles had that kind of room, just minus the V-12.

9. The Maybach is a Very Limited Mercedes...
once you've owned one, nothing else will ever do. Here's my baby, though...she only has 180K and was bought new...has been like the rock of Gibraltar.

On the way to Moab...

10. My old beast just hit 193,000 miles.
And this may open me up to vile remarks from the peanut gallery, but it is a 1994 Ford Explorer.

Even an old Mercedes is beyond my grasp...

12. I had one of these pass me the other day

Considering I could buy one of these, insure and upkeep for a few years, keep my sportwagon for everyday use, AND buy a house for the same money, I'll take the Lambo...

13. There was one of those
in Petoskey, MI (way up in the snowy area). I saw him trying to drive it with 2" of snow on the road, and it was not even a little bit pretty...:scared:

17. Now THAT is funny.
One of the reasons I moved to Florida was my experience driving my Corvette to and fro in Massachusetts. Black ice? Snow? Screw that. It was treacherous just in the rain.

15. Oh yeah? Check this shit out
Tonight I had one of these

pass me at probably 65 miles per hour.

On a tiny country road.

Over a double yellow line.

At night.

Around a curve.

I don't think he'll ever realize how lucky he was to have not killed anyone.

24. Welcome to DU.
Yeah, it seems a bit pricey. There is a coachbuilder who will turn one of those into a convertible, an option that would only add $172,000 to the price.

Not for mere mortals like us.
