Is killing your neighbors for bad 3 a.m. music justifiable homicide?
I'm moving soon, thank god, but last night (this morning) we were treated to a 3 a.m. serenade YET AGAIN from the boys upstairs. Complete with some sort of drunken fight. And the music was BAAAD. I'm not even sure what it was. Something moody with piano. Male singer (tenor-ish voice), not a lot of percussion or bass. Still. It woke us up, so you could imagine just how loud it was.

I made myself presentable, went outside, banged on the neighbor's door. They responded by shutting off the hall light. Lovely.

So, I went around to the back door. It was open. I banged on the door again. No answer. I invited myself in and ran into the most reasonable of the (three? four?) boys that live up there.

Me: "I don't know if you're aware, but whatever whoever is playing is a lot louder in my place than it is in yours."
Chris: "Yeah, dude's drunk and locked himself in his room, we're trying to get him to turn it down."
Me: (I must have delivered a hell of a death look.)
Chris: "We'll get him to turn it down."
Me: "Thank you. While you're at it, could you please stop the yelling?"
Chris: (Something monosyllabic.)

The music did stop a minute or two later, and the yelling was replaced with talking and, unfortunately, an unidentifiable buzzing noise from somewhere outside.

I couldn't fall back asleep until 4. Woke up at 6.

Surely nobody would miss them if they just...disappeared. Right?
:grr:

1. I lived next to Ricky Ricardo (aka Bongo Boy) for 3 years.
I know what you're going through.

No amount of complaining (even when Bongo Boy was slapped with a $250 fine)
ever worked.

I moved.

2. Only if they happen to be singing loudly along with it (and out of tune)
My neighbor sometimes plays bad music although her tastes are similiar to mine.

But she sings, she sings lound and very much out of tune

3. It's justified even if it's GOOD music at 3 am.

5. Well, you'd have to play your own bad music late into the morning
in drunken states to pick up the slack for awhile, and let that taper off. Otherwise people will realize they've gone before the bodies can truly decompose.

7. At least you have an adventurous life.
Someday, you'll pine for incidents like these, when you realize you're too old for this kinda stuff to happen.

;)

9. Let it ride. You will eventually be out of there.
That really reminds me of barracks life when I was younger. I was so glad to finally get out. Problem was I moved into a duplex that had a married couple next door that were loud as hell! Peace and quiet are god's gift to your soul. I hope you find yours soon.
