1. I thought he died about a year ago
He used to do a lot of the nostalgia conventions.

2. He was a very progressive guy. Was on Howard Stern a lot too.
The article didnt mention that he's also a Phd.
Bye bye Granpa! We'll miss you.

3. Wow...too bad
I was watching "Married to the Mob" a few weeks back on Comedy Central...and yep, he was in it.

Al Lewis was working well past "The Munsters". And good for him. I'm glad he was still getting work.

4. I know he was typecast as Grandpa but I loved him in that role.
I watched those reruns religiously as a kid. As an adult they can be a little tiresome, but he was hilarious. :D

11. Oh, I agree.
I loved him as Grandpa Munster. :-)

And it wasn't the only time he worked with Fred Gywnne. They were also together in "Car 54, Where Are You". I'm glad they were able to work together twice.

13. NO!
Oh, that's a real shame - that man was a stone HOOT. Very righteous, very cool. Though he was pushing 100 and in poor health, this news still SUCKS.

15. Aw crap
He was truly a progressive voice, as well as an ordained rabbi, which many people who only knew him from The Munsters did not know.

He also never minced words when he spoke the truth to power.

RIP Al Lewis. I miss you already.

Question are all the Munsters past now? Or are Marilynn and Eddie still around. I hope that doesn't sound morbid. I am still processing the news.

I had no idea... rabbi, restauranteur, DJ, basketball scout, wow. He even liked the Ramones.

What a cool guy. We seem to be losing a lot of wild progressives this year.

29. Aww, man!
He was a good guy, from what I have seen and heard. Very involved in civil rights and liberal causes. When he got the crowd to chant "Fuck the FCC" at that Howard Stern rally years ago, I nearly died laughing.

33. VERY far-left guy
I too used to listen to his WBAI Saturday show. He kept on rabblerousing well into his 90s. He was very involved in prisoners' rights issues in recent years. Quite a guy.

34. He did have a great show on WBAI.
I was listening today and I think they said that Randy Credico is holding (doing?) a tribute to him on Tuesday at Rocky Sullivan's in NYC.
