Hey, want to see the worst movie of this (or any) year?

Go see "When a Stranger Calls", you won't be disappointed. It's 83 minutes of sheer goddamn boredom!

Look for my exhaustive and swear-filled review tomorrow at www.horrorview.com.

1. I thought you were going to say "Big Momma's House 2".

3. I'd rather sit through Big Momma's House 2
twice in a row than even see the trailer to When a Stranger Calls (2006) again.

2. I wasn't planning to watch it anyway. I'm not into the horror genre.
I am, however, trying to make my way through all the Oscar nominations. We saw "Memoirs of a Geisha" on Friday, but I don't think that one was even nominated. It was OK, beautiful to look at, but the book was much better.

anyway, back to "When a Stranger..." Wasn't it a top seller this past w/e or something? No accounting for taste, I suppose...

4. Don't worry, there isn't any horror in it
Memoirs of a Geisha was scarier than When a Stranger Calls

5. You actually spent money to see it?
Please tell me it was a free ticket, or there was a promise of sexual favors if you went. Somebody with your avatar should know better.

7. I drew the short straw at Horrorview
I got my sexual favors from the film - It both blew and sucked at the same time, and stole 83 fucking minutes of my life.

16. Have you seen the original with Carol Kane?
The beginning few minutes are actually extremely creepy. Sadly, it's all downhill from there.

Well, there's $20 you'll never see again. But I'm going to go check out your review. Because there's little I love more than reading awful reviews. One of my favorites is The Seattle Times' review of Coldplay's show at the White River Amphitheater when they got stuck in traffic. It's really a classic of the bad-review genre. :D

18. But of course
and the idiotic TV sequel When a Stranger Calls Back. I admit the original was a kindler, gentler rip off of Halloween, but the opening was great. Plus, it's always good to see Collen Dewhurst, even with a plodding script.

Have you read my Hall of Shame? It is choked with exhaustive and hilarious reviews of terrible films.

15. Here's the opening salvo of my review
The MPAA has classified this film as PG-13 for "intense terror, violence and some language." They forgot to ad "if your IQ is over 13, this film will bore you senseless."

Not only is "When a Stranger Calls" a remake, and therefore totally and completely pointless, it's "updated" to better relate to today's teenage sensibilities, thus following the decade of upwardly mobile parents raising fucking artifact children (i.e. sheltered to the point of social retardation) we have a film featuring an artifact teenager taking care of two literal artifact children.

The dumbing down and unnecessary softening of American horror films is perhaps the saddest trend in Hollywood today. The whole idea of horror films is to shock and frighten the audience, yet increasingly, like the news reports in Orwell's 1984, classic horror films are remade and updated, stripped of everything that made them horror films in the first place, and presented to an eager public.

23. I'd rather watch Mad About Mambo AND
Lambada, The Forbidden Dance, after an into/out of Hindi translation, full frame, SLP mode VHS, third generation dub, than watch When a Stranger Calls again.

21. Ok, I haven't seen it...
Only seen the previews. My guess is that its the parents. They hire the babysitter and screw with her head and then they are gonna murder her. Or something like that.

If you dont wanna spoiler it, PM me and let me know if I guessed right.

22. If the film were at all logical, that might be one possible outcome
but this film is anything but logical. There's nothing to spoil if you've seen the trailer.

32. I haven't seen it, but I can say that you are wrong.
I know people who are afficionados of bad movies (although why anyone would want to be is beyond me), and they consistently say that the two worst movies of all time are 'Manos' the Hands of Fate and Night Train to Mundo Fine (also known as "Red Zone Cuba").
