Good Tuesday Morning, Everyone!

Welcome to the Early Morning Crew for this 7th of February! I hope you had a good nights rest and now you're ready to get this day started with me! Captain Clintmax here, and since I am off work at my other job today, I can spend more time here with YOU! :bounce: So...let's get it on!

8. That smiley is a riot
For some strange reason it's called the "girl fight" smiley. I've seen many "girl fights" in my life and never seen one like that.

So, what have you been up to lately? I have had to log off early the past few days so I assume I've missed you.

I haven't seen one like that either. But...it IS a riot! I've been working a lot lately. Our GM has been on vacation so I was the "acting" GM while she was gone. That equals lots of work, but I enjoyed it, and she really complimented me yesterday on how the store looked and how well we did in sales last week! :bounce: I guess I did a good job. :)

I probably should not waste too much time here today...I have a lot to do, but things have a way of not happening the way I intend them to around here. :hi:

When I'm not actually typing, but I am looking at the computer my hands sit at either end of the keyboard - this means that my thumb is around either Alt or the space-bar, and my middle-finger somewhere near the tab key.

Then it's 5 o'clock and home-time.

I've just finished listening to Quatour pour la fin du temps by Olivier Messiaen (which was swimboy's fault) - an extraordinary piece, written whilst the composer was a P.o.W. being held by the Nazis.

87. It's more their style and choice of music.
I'm a hard-core classical fan, they're soft classical.

As a general rule, if a C.D. is marketed on the basis of it's singer/instrumentalist I'm unlikely to like it. If it's marketed on the basis of the composer/work, then it's got a chance....

That said, they do serve a purpose for me - classical music is very expensive, and record companies effectively subsidise niche markets (like what I am) with the more populist releases.

100. It indicates what's considered more important
the performer or the music.

It's essentially importing the method and style of popular music into classical. Thus one also has the attempt to force everything into short tracks - a single movement from a concerto will be taken out of its surrounding context - a single aria from an opera which lasts 3 hours.... Classical music cannot be fitted into that small box without loosing itself, i.m.o. Popular music is pretty much all written within song form, in classical this is only a tiny minority - we have concerti, suites, symphonies, opera, sonatas, &c.&c.&c.

Just tweaking it and setting it all up, including the wireless network with my work station was not so nice, but it's done now and works.

And there's no option for anything else besides a Windows operated machine, since both our clients only use that. Otherwise, I'd run Linux or would have considered a Mac. But, no choice.

by the time I realize I am having trouble getting to sleep, it is too late to take anything and still get up in the morning and have a clear head. I do try to keep to a schedule. Part of my problem is I worry about stuff too much. And late at night is apparently my favorite time for that.

And I'll check back, too. Someone's coming to see the house today, so I guess I should scoop the kitty box. One day last week, I came in after someone had been here and noticed that one of the kitties left a furball on the floor. Oops! And Sophie, the long-haired one, deposited one of those poop "hangers" (sticks to her fur and then drops off at inconvenient locations) right in front of the bathroom door. But they must have done it all after the people left, because the realtor said no one mentioned it. They've behaved since then. Kids!

Is it as GORGEOUS a day up there as it is here? It poured like anything on Saturday and has been chamber-of-commerce weather ever since. Cool, dry, sunny, blue skies. I'm opening up the house again today to let all the breezes come in. :)

It's sort of funny -- I got sick the day after my brother left. My sister got sick right after he left her place in November. He must be a carrier.

Say hi to Greekspeak! :hi:

131. I'm sure it's been a trial!
Hairballs and hangers! Embarassing, to say the LEAST! We're overcast up here right now. It's going to be partly sunny and 61 up here today, so it is going to be very nice too! :woohoo:

I think yes, your brother is carrying the flu around with him and giving to everybody as he goes along. :spank: Greekspeak says hello back, Miss Airmens!

135. They're plotting against us.
:tinfoilhat: The kitties don't want to move. I was mortified! So how are your fur kids doing? Got any recent pictures?

I'll send some of our sunny warm weather up to you ... can you feel it now? :bounce:

142. I'm sure you were!
I would be too! Tony and Bandit are doing fine. Tony is growing like crazy! I haven't uploaded any new pictures of him, but I need to. Once I get back from taking Greekspeak over to FSU, I'll do that so you can see how big he's getting!

137. Hey, Clint!
I'm glad I get to see you late this morning! Congratulations on your time off! I'm not sure how it happened but we had no alarm set this morning so I am well-rested, just behind schedule. No harm done--and I made espresso in one of those stovetop chambered percolators(?) this morning to get me up to speed as quickly as possible. Now I feel like the Flash! See ya!

155. I'm so glad I didn't totally walk away from the computer for today.
I swear if I ever move again, I'm going where it doesn't snow.

Brrr ...

Is Greekspeak taking some college courses?

157. I had my fill of cold too...
When we lived in Missouri. Now we're down here and it's much better. Greekspeak is working on his Doctorate here at FSU. He has a few more years I think, then we're not sure where we're going to go. He wants to be a professor, so it will depend on where he gets hired.

160. I love college towns!
When I was young I thought about becoming a college teacher.

I've gone back for several classes just for the sheer joy of the experience ~ to hear young active minds at work is amazing.

161. Yes, it is.
Because he is over there all the time, I spend a lot of time over there also. I tell ya, with so many kids around all the time, it looks, for all the world, like a full scale riot in progress!

163. It's a wonderful way of staying young.
These lil' towns up here roll up the sidewalks at sundown.

I was talking with my house mate about where I'd move if I going south. She suggested New Mexico because it's warm and she believes that you don't need a lot of money to be comfortable there. I'm more inclined to be within a few hours drive (or preferably less) from the ocean.
