Hell, I've probably seen "Network" about 10 times. But that speech is a classic. It's one of Ned Beatty's best performances.

Thanks again. I'm going to have to check that americanrhetoric site out. :-)

32. Messiaen always constitutes a big raise.
I think that the tragic circumstances of the Quatour win out for the moment - and I've had to put it on now as well.

That said, if you need something to get you going Turangalila would be better.

26. Arthur Kent

aka, the scud stud.

First, in today's Salon , ex-NBC reporter Arthur Kent, who was omnipresent in the previous Iraq war, and who believes that Bush is mishandling the war plans in a way that will inevitably lead to an unnecessarily long and bloody conflict and a huge Anti-American backlash, says he will be reporting on the progress of the war from this side of the Atlantic this time. Since of late I have noticed a lot less reporting in the U.S. media of facts damaging to the U.S. administration's war position, and since Kent is a Canadian with a fairly free reign to report here, I will be posting links to his reports and analyses as the war progresses.

62. My favorite Arthur:
When I was a little kid growing up in northeastern Oklahoma, there was an after-school program on TV called "Uncle Zeb's Cartoon Camp." At the end of every show, all these kids would troop across a fake little bridge and be greeted by Uncle Zeb, who invited the little ones to say "Hello" to whoever.

On one particular show, a cute little kid marched giggling up to the camera and could hardly get hold of himelf to talk to Uncle Zeb on camera. Finally, through his giggles, he sputtered out, in his distinctly northeastern Oklahoma accent, the explanation for his giggles:

"Ah-thuh fahted."

(I've loved poor little Ah-thuh evah since.)
