Lost a work colleague over the weekend

Took the day off. Came back today to see the e-mail that one of my colleagues in the wireless/wireline/networking research group (not my group) had died over the weekend of an apparent heart attack; he was 47. I worked with him in the past on a telecom product search project. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be sent to the American Heart Association.

No one saw this coming, he no known/apparent illness--and no, it wasn't Super Bowl related.

actually, this is the third work colleague in 6 months (one didn't die, she went on disability). The job cuts e-mails don't seem like such a big deal right now.
