I dunno, I could be wrong, but then, it's the Grammys. It's not exactly a source of relevance on any level except the further validation of the already-famous. I think the last genuinely interesting record to win one was "Odelay." And that was what, 10 years ago?

There seemed to be a time when the Grammys REALLY mattered, can't recall when that was.

I mean, look at the Oscars, people drop everything to hear the nominations; billions worldwide still tune in to watch the broadcast.

What happened to the Grammys? Is it the fact that, as I suspect, the children have taken over, so to speak (poorly dressed children at that)?

Is it the fact that there are just too many music awards shows out there?

Or am I suffering from tunnelvision?

Les Paul's win meant that an acquaintance of mine who played bass on Steve Vai's track in the same category lost. But if you have to lose to anybody, it may as well be a legend like Les Paul.

22. I'm still figuring out Best Rock Performance vs. Best Hard Rock

because Plant got a nomination in each of those categories for two songs from the same exact album. And somehow one was classified as "Rock" and the other "Hard Rock".

But then again Jethro Tull once won for best heavy metal album so I suppose trying to figure that one out just makes the mind go crazy!

BUT I enjoyed watching all the performances. I'm happy Sly is still alive even if walking is difficult, he deserve it.

I loved Paul McCarthy singing Helter Skelter. The ole rocking chair was moving to that one. I love Bruce and he can do no wrong. I even thought Coldplay was good. U2 was fun and Jay Z singing with Linkin Park was a great tune.

I think we have grumpy DU'ers who just can't sit back and enjoy the damn thing.

Hell American Idiot is still pumping out singles so technically they could qualify again this year if they release another single

the Oscars and the Emmys and the awards for Broadway shows (don't even remember the name of that one)...these mean about as much to me as Miss America, which isn't a hell of a lot.
