1. At least its tax deductable
you can deduct what it costs to purchase uniforms, for the amount you paid that is in excess of your annual clothing allowance.

you can also deduct the cost of laundering or dry cleaning them.

7. Just remember, it only applies to BDUs
you cant deduct class Bs or As because you can wear them off post. Silly, but true.

13. You can deduct haircuts too
You have to keep the receipts, and you have to deduct a hell of a lot of stuff in order to beat the standard deductions, but it can be done, and I've seen it done, but it's a lot of work.

2. $250.00??? Good grief.
I have business suits that cost less than that. Cripes! I bet that doesn't even include the boots.

8. Just be lucky that those new ACU's are all velcro....
man I wish I had velcro uniforms when I was in the Army, but then again I did, on the pockets of the BDU's...it just was against AR 670-1 at the time =)

12. Yeah, I think they're trying to go for the layered approach
makes more sense than putting on heavyweight cotton BDUs.

15. Where the heck are you buying this stuff?
My experience is nearly a decade old, but geez!

And why are you buying all that at once? What's happened to your issue?

Or is this a brand new uniform style/make that everyone has to go out and buy?

20. Some explaination
Every soldier gets an initial issue of 4 sets of cammo uniforms, and an annual clothing allowance (tax-free) to buy additional uniforms as these wear out.

21. Only enlisted get that.
Officers get an initial allowance at commissioning or upon reporting for active duty and then nothing thereafter.

the "little bits" like blousers cost. Her boots (they have to wear the reg. black combat leather) cost us $112...sigh...:(
