I need advice on repug employee situation...
I just recently gave a vehicle to one of my employees, he shows up at the office today with a b/c '04 sticker on the back window. It's his vehicle but he uses on the job. This is a well educated man in his mid-50's, very intelligent. He had the sticker on his last vehicle and I thought since he got a new one it would be gone but apparently he peeled it off and reused it (??????) I need to discuss this with him soon. I really don't want to have the knock down -drag out debate w/him,(although I'd win) because the guy works for me and I think he would resent it. Any suggestions?

2. Fire his ass. It's an ownership society.

Just tell that business is tough enough without politics in the mix.

3. Stating that you need whatever vehicle he's going to use to
represent your business to be neutral(bumper sticker free) so as to not offend customers might do the trick.

5. Just tell him there's a policy of no changes to company vehicles.
Meaning no stickers, no writing, no adverts, no magnetic ribbons, nothing.

OR - you can say "It's a good thing the republican economy is so goddamn good, because you need to look for a new job. But I'm sure you'll have a new job by the end of the day because your president says that jobs are plentiful and there is no fear of going without anything."

9. If it was a company vehicle
it wouldn't be a problem, I'd go out and peel it off and tell him thats the way it is but I GAVE him the vehicle.

10. Well, if it's a gift, then you have no recourse.
Once a gift is given you no longer have control over it.

7. Just be firm and professional
Explain pleasantly that this is a business vehicle and it's inappropriate to display the sticker on it. If you let it slide on the old vehicle, he may get uptight but bottom line, this is your business and he's representing you. And the same should apply to all employees, regardless of their views.

11. It's not just a personal vehicle
but he does use it on the job so I guess I should have some say in the matter.

8. Do other employees have political stickers on cars they use on the job?
Edited on Thu Feb-09-06 06:41 PM by Gormy Cuss
The rule should be the same regardless of whose party is being touted.

On the other hand, if you gave the car to him (as opposed to selling it or assigning it to him as a company vehicle) he must not know your politics because it would be pretty jerky to affix a re-used B/C sticker on a gift from you.

I try to to keep politics
out of business as much as possible. The only time I step in is if they discuss it with my clients. I can't imagine that happening in this case as the guy is very professional.

14. Well, then, it's time to explain that theory.
He may not realize that everyone around him doesn't share his political beliefs.

12. Ask him to cover it up while on business...
I have a couple stickers on the back of my car I use for business occasionally. I simply cover them up on business errands.

15. Make it very clear that when representing the business, no politics.
You could be losing clients over this. As he works FOR you, he doesn't get to argue too much. If he does, make it a written warning and very clear when the removal must happen.

Also be sure that no one who ses cars on company business has any stickers, whether you agree with them or not. Be very celar and make sure he understands this isn't a personal vendetta, but something that will effect the BOTTOM LINE (he'll understand bottom line because that's all rethugs care about anyway...)

24. Does he know that?
You have to look out for your business. You can't let one guy cause you to lose clients. To be honest, any company car mr. kt and I see that has "w" stickers, we jot down on the "never, ever call them list."

Just sayin'...

22. can your customers see the car in his work environment? if so I think
it is appropriate to ask him to remove it since his vehicle is representing your company. If he's so gung ho ask him to replace the sticker with a non partisan one (Bless the USA or a flag or some such nonsense)

I finally got to put stickers on my car when I quit doing a side job delivering literature. and I'll take them off when I start using my car for my own business again. in the mean time, I am REALLY enjoying having my "DemocraticUnderground.com" and my "Proud to be an Arizona Democrat"

it's inappropriate in a business situation IMO (but a flag is so non partisan it's like having nothing at all)

26. Is the car titled in his name? IMO you have no beef.
If it's titled in your company name, you might have a say. I'd check w/ an attorney.

Good luck. :hi:
