I absolutely can't stand Loverboy. No creativity or originality at all. It's like a record executive wrote all their songs.

They haven't recorded for years. It's easy to avoid their entire oeuvre.

I'm losing my hearing, so I don't hate any music, really. One day I know I will be willing to trade one or more limbs to have my hearing back.

But until then, I'm still not going to buy, borrow, or steal anything by Loverboy, and not worry a bit.

6. How about something that's good?

I'm listening to David Bowie's "Low" right now, one of my all time favorites. When it came out, the rock critic establishment hated it, now they've canonized it. That's why I pay no attention to the man behind the typewriter.

Anyway, it is a beautiful record, but rather subdued, dark, maybe nihilistic. Much of it was created yards away from the Berlin wall in 1976, and it is as relevant today as it was then.

When I was growing up in the 70's, in summer on weekends we'd drive 2 1/2 hours, to my parents' vacation home north of Green Bay.

My dad would insist on this AM station that played "those good time, old time, polka favorites."

So for those 2 1/2 hours, we'd be listening to really crappy polka tunes on a station that would fade to static half the time at random.

How's that for crap music?
