14. It's still only going at 2:1
I'm waiting until just before the real Delay trial and the real hearings into the taps..... Then I'll take "McPrez may be" at 50:1.... I'll roll those dice..... at 50:1 how could you pass it up.

10. McCain a war criminal?
As much as we may not like him, I don't think it's very good taste to go after his military service. After all, we don't like it when they do it to us. McCain got a nice taste of the SwiftBoat treatment during the '00 election. Let the ultra-conservative repugs who hate him tear him apart. There are sooooo many things to take issue with McCain that we don't need to go down this route.

13. I'm just very uncomfortable attacking anyone's military record
Unless you're referring to his support of the Iraqi war, in which case I misunderstood.

15. That was what I had in mind
I really can't say one way or another about his actions in Vietnam, I was born in 1981 so I really don't feel entirely comfortable sharing my opinion of that whole mess, let along any individual's role in it.

19. yeah that reminds me of Mike Molloy
who a few weeks ago was complaining about McCain and called him a "sky murderer" in passing, undoubtably a reference to the fact that he was captured after doing an air bombing run over Hanoi. A total cheap shot that made me lose a lot of respect for Mike.

16. Like I said. Meely-mouthed weak fuck.
He is on Letterman decrying the evils of "money and power" while at the same time he has kissed Bush's ass while approving every bill and measure that is emptying the treasury and delivering it to Halliburton, pharmaceutical companies, the Carlyle Group, etc. . . .

He is a putz and should be tarred and feathered.

20. Some links for those who would defend John McCain:

Haunted By Spirits
John McCain derived his wealth from his marriage to Cindy Hensley McCain, whose father started his road to riches as a bootlegger. As a politician, the senator has remained beholden to the liquor industry and the family business.

An Endowed Chair
Senator John McCain's push for campaign-finance reform has helped make him a presidential contender. Donations from special interests that appear before his Senate Commerce Committee haven't hurt, either.

27. Well isn't this interesting?
1. US West/QWest
Who: regional/long-distance phone company
What they gave: $103,700
What they want: Favor McCain bill to allow Baby Bells to provide high-speed Internet access. Want favorable resolution of disputes over Telecommunications Act of 1996

2. Bell South
Who: regional phone company
What they gave: $56,000
What they want: Favor McCain bill to allow Baby Bells to provide high-speed Internet access. Want favorable resolution of disputes over Telecommunications Act of 1996

4. AT&T/TCI/Media One
Who: media conglomerate
What they gave: $52,200
What they want: Oppose McCain's high-speed Internet bill. Want favorable resolution of disputes over Telecommunications Act of 1996

3 of his top 5 contributors are in direct opposition to each other - so basically McCain wins no matter what he does.

30. Hey, I used to admire McCain
I always thought he was one of the "good" repugs, standing up to them. I know lots of conservatives who hate McCain, so I always thought that was a good sign as well. Even now I think he'd be better than Bush - but honestly, that's not really saying a whole helluva lot, is it?

But watching him keep grovelling at the feet of the BushCo regime after they continually abused him - the '00 primary race was particularly brutal - I kinda started losing respect for him right around then.
