I'd never even HEARD of Boston Legal before my sister told me about it a few days ago. She's so in love with it I torrented the entire first season and am now getting into it for the first time.
It IS funny.
So far my favorite "moment" was in episode 3, when Denny (William Shatner) walks around the first half of the show with a Botox needle sticking out of his forehead.
Mebbe I should turn the ol' teevee back on occasionally?
There are always big laughs - not the canned laughter kind in most tv shows. They have "leaked" alot of info on that show too - how the credit industry operates; bush's bogus salmon plan; gerrymandering.
Another fav: Allen Shore goes out on the balcony to have a cigar and drink with Denny Crane and says to Denny "Hey - I've hardly seen you at all this episode!"
My sister turned me on to that show last fall....she was shocked that I hadn't heard of it til then-told me it was right up my alley! and she's correct!! I have to get a hold of the older shows now. William Shatner and James Spader are just perfect.
8. That quiet smirk Spader always gives kinda creeps me
I'm just glad I don't know anybody like that. And Shatner's perfect for his role. He always did have fun with comedic parts, and was never afraid to laugh at his own image (Airplane II comes to mind). I really like that.
One night my husband and I had the tv on but we weren't really watching anything and Boston Legal came on. Within 5 minutes we were hooked and now we get disappointed when its not on.
Boston Legal and West Wing both have incredible writers. I've always wondered why Democratic Presidential candidates didn't employee writers from shows like this to write speeches. Times like this this beg for inspiring opposition and these shows prove there is no excuse for boring political speeches.
