A member of the US House of Representatives saw this bogus news flash and announced Hope's death during a session at the Capitol. Hope learned he was dead when a reporter called his home asking for a statement. According to family members, Hope took this mistake in good humor.

Preceded in death by friends and relatives. Survived by friends and relatives. He was most well known on DU for repeatedly posting the Brazilian Joke, overusing the popcorn smiley, and posting facetious flamebait threads in the Lounge. One of his hobbies was troll hunting in GD.

He will lie in state in the Lounge throughout the weekend. Memorial service will commence Sunday night at 11:00PM PST. He will then be buried at sea. Memorials to DU are preferred in lieu of flowers.
