Out with the old; in with the new: a home improvement thread.
When I bought this house, I discovered that the previous owner had installed a very nice Kohler sink in the master bathroom. However, he also installed a VERY bargain basement Home Depot faucet. (See Fig. A below.) Within a few months, the cold side made a noise when being turned on and off. I'd always meant to replace it, but never really got around to it. One day, I decided to visit my Habitat for Humanity Re-Store. I was looking for an old medicine cabinet to hang in my garage for storage. But, I found something better. A new, never-used Kohler faucet. For some reason it was donated to Habitat, and found its way to me. So, today, I installed it. (See Fig. B below.) So, now I have a Kohler sink AND faucet. It works GREAT! You really can tell the difference between Kohler and "Glacier Bay".

Also, I'd NEVER want to be a plumber. My body just doesn't contort that way. x(

1. Oooh, what a nice sink.
The Kohler does wonders for it. What a great find!

I didn't realize you did plumbing work too. I've got this leak/dishwasher issue... ;)

2. I do like that sink a lot.
I have no idea how it ended up in this house. Everything was Home Depot brand or worse. That sink seemed out of place. Now it looks pretty. :)

Hmmm...I'm no expert at plumbing, but for you I'll see what I can do. ;)

4. No! I wouldn't wish plumbing on anyone!
Just giving you a hard time. :P

I've got guys that come and fix that stuff up for me. I just haven't made the call. I still need to get them to come out and fix my drawers...

12. Next time, buy a brand new one.
This is my last scheduled phone call anyway; I'm trying to make the "to fix" list as long as possible...

14. Strange, your advice matches my parents'.
If the new houses weren't out in the (relative) sticks, or so blindingly expensive, I would have.

Now, unless it's about how wonderful I am, stop agreeing with my parents! Whose side are you on?

Hey, make that trip worth THEIR time. ;)

15. Which is why I'm out in the sticks.
Hey, it's just sheer coincidence, the advice.

That they email me to tell you this stuff is another issue. :D

16. You know, I'm not shocked.
That they found YOU specifically is intriguing, but that they've found yet another way to get into my life isn't. :D

Actually, if I stay at this job, I could live in the sticks, but the sticks down south.

I've always wanted to live in CA. But, there are some really nice things about Texas, too. ;) No moves anywhere anytime soon.

21. No, sorry, that was my circus music on "low."
I can see how that would be distracting.

That's good to hear. :-)

28. Advice? Yes. Hire a pro for the really tough stuff.
I have installed a bathroom sink and faucet/drain in my spare bathroom, and now this faucet. I need a new faucet in my kitchen, but that can wait.

Kohler makes good stuff. I wish all my plumbing fixtures was Kohler.
