but I would kill myself doing it. I know it. But it looks like a blast.....

It would be so fun to try. They get going so fast, I couldn't imagine wiping out at that speed.

1. I think you can bobsled at Lake Placid or Salt Lake City.
I think they do demonstrations. You wouldn't drive though. ;)

7. I've wanted to for years now.
Never had the time and don't know if I have the courage.

8. Go for it. Statistically, you're not likely to break your neck.

11. I know.
I'm in the process of getting in shape now and plan on doing a few things on my "list" soon.
Can't be any worse than when I was a kid in the UP and used to fly down the football stadium's bleachers and "jump" over the barrier on a piece of cardboard. I received a concussion from my head hitting back once.
I'd think that the luge track would be safer, then again I'm the idiot who'd want to go down skeleton-style, like I did growing up.

12. Me, too. that's why I don't ski.
Haven't been on skis since I was about ten, but if I strapped on a pair today, it'd be "fuck the bad knees and spine, point me toward the steepest slope."

Then 95 MPH until the sudden stop.

13. That's me exactly.
Never the easy, less dangerous way around it. I'd go all out, definitely go for the most speed I could get and miss the third turn, laughing as I went airborn until I hit the track again.
Not a pretty picture.
Skiing-wise, I was the kid who always had the attitude of "Screw the Bunny Slope, let's get down to the good stuff." I loved speed and I suspect I still do if I allow myself the opportunity.

16. Legs, arms,
we could share the hospital room since we'll both be in traction together.

17. And wouldn't that be romantic?
People magazine would pay big for the story, yes?

2. If I wasn't so close to death, I would LOVE to try it.
But yeah, I'd kill myself.

3. Those are the only Winter Olympic sports
I have any interest at all in watching.

Speed.

Eh, I could watch some hockey. I need to understand it better.

And I guess slalom's okay, too. More speed.

Well, and there's speed skating...

:dilemma:

4. I've always thought I could luge.
All you have to do to train for it is lie down! I'm really good at that.

9. You could lay down on a skateboard on a hill.
I'd think that might come close to the luge. As an added bonus you could do that someplace warm so you could skip that rubber suit thingie they wear. Shoot--you could even do it nekkid!

If you opt for nekkid roller-luge, you might want to protect your naughty bits from road rash, and PLEASE do not have a photographer standing at the bottom of the hill filming it--ok?

10. But neither of them is near as gonzo as that "skeleton" sled thing.
If they'd had those thirty years ago, I'd have been on it like ugly on an ape.

15. I did it in Calgary in 2002! (bobsled ride)
They offer summer-time rides on the "Road Rocket", a specially modified wheeled boblsed which allows passengers the opportunity to ride in the warmer months. The competition 4-man sleds hit a maximum speed in the upper 70s, while the Road Rocket tops out at just over 60 mph, but the thrill factor is still incredible - the g-forces are just unreal from the quick turns at speed along with the banking. It's easy to see how the athletes become addicted to trips down the track...
