My son is going to his 8th funeral in 3 years..
Edited on Sun Feb-12-06 07:49 PM by SoCalDem
He got a phone call while he was here helping us put up a patio enclosure.. His 24 yr old pal (a deputy sheriff) was being airlifted to Loma Linda after a motorcycle accident.. They did not get there in time to save him, and was dead at the scene.. He was recently married and they have a 1 yr old daughter..

2 years ago FOUR friends died in a roll-over on the way back from Vegas..

Another friend drowned while surfing a few years ago.

A coworker was killed in a car accident last year

A college friend died of a weird drug reaction to asthma meds a few years ago.

I have not been to that many funerals in my whole life

6. It's really hard to lose a young person
My best friend died of leukemia shortly before I graduated from high school. It was just heartbreaking.

3. No one should see so much death
and destruction in their young life.

my heart goes out to him, and to your family. This is so hard to deal with.

Condolences to the young widow and her child, so very sad.

4. That's terrible...
I don't know if this would help much, but I would go out and buy some children's clothes or books for the daughter. That would take some stress off of the mothers shoulders.

That's so sad....

5. That's so sad
:( I had a period like that when I was young - starting when I was about 16 and lasting until I was about 25, I lost an incredible number of friends. Accidents, overdoses, one guy choked to death during an epileptic siezure, a couple of suicides. It was traumatic and it seemed like every time I'd start to come to terms with one death, another would occur.

My condolences to your son and the family of his friend. That's hard.

7. I've been to three funerals in the last two months....
Two were expected-folks in their eighties who were ailing.

One was a 21 year old, my best friends son, of a drug overdose. That one will never go away.
