but worrying about who has the most, or who should get the most or whether or not they are simply a popularity contest, pales in comparison to the greater issues out there.

I think the hearts are fine and fun, but they aren't worth anyone getting worked into a tizzy or arguing over.

And that's not the case. There are instances of human misery out there that outweigh all but the most serious of issues, but it doesn't follow that we should entirely give up worrying about the superfluous--it's human nature to bitch, whine and obsess about stupid, trivial things. I, for example, find the effect of the hearts on the Lounge entertaining. Even while there are millions suffering around the globe, I have room in my head and in my day to waste thought and energy on this. And so do you.
