Am I the only one who thinks the "hunting accident" was intentional?
Surely Whittington has, at this point, a sufficient amount of dirt on any number of fellow immoral criminal republicans and might very well have been motivated, as all republicans eventually are, to sell out his "friends" and "confidants" for either financial gain, or to keep himself out of jail.

1. If it would have been intentional...
Cheney would have:

1) used buck shot, not bird shot;
2) would have had a plan, which would have included taking less than 24 hours to report the accident, which, to me, shows that they had no plan, so it couldn't have been planned; and
3) would not have been hunting with this guy and two single women, which does not bode well--neither at home or in the national press.

JMO. :hi:

I think it was a drunken accident, and the 24 hour delay in reporting it was to give Cheney plenty of time to get the booze out of his system (and hide the condoms ;) ).

9. And that's the other position I'm considering - that he was drunk
especially given the VAST delay in reporting the "accident".

I have also thought that the sonofabitch must have been drunk off his fat, disgusting evil ass, and they delayed so that no alcohol tests could be done.

17. Rab-with-6-rs, you know that he was drunk...
That HAS to be the reason for the delay. Honestly, there's just no other explanation.

18. You left out the big one:
If this was planned, I seriously doubt the lawyer would have survived.

People are going overboard with speculation about "what really happened."

19. Well, yeah...
A face-ful of buckshot at 40 yards would have pretty much guaranteed death. I didn't think I had to say that. :D

22. Buckshot at 40 yds is not guaranteed death.
But after the guy was on the ground twitching and bleeding, it would've been a simple matter to make a second shot at point blank. Why leave the guy around to give his side of the story if this was a deliberate shooting?

It has to be an accident. I'm convinced they're dodging and stonewalling simply because (1) that's their default response no matter what and (2) he was drunk at the time of the shooting and needed time to sober up before speaking with the police.

2. Actually, I've half wondered if
it wasn't Dubya who shot the poor bastard and the reporting delay was owing to the need to draw straws to see who'd take the fall.

so he could use him as an example when he's intimidating other Republicans.

3. If Cheney wanted Whittington dead, he would be dead

and there would be no connection. This appears to be an accident. There are numerous "questionable deaths" connected with this administration. These criminals know how to eliminate a target and get away with it. This is way to sloppy to be an attempted hit.

Edit - Then again, maybe it was a warning. I don't doubt his arrogance.

5. I have to agree with that
I mean, if he wanted any of us dead we wouldn't know what happened but just 'disappear'

Unless Cheney was trying to send a message!

6. this might get Cheney to resign so Rice can be VP...
so I think Rice engineered the whole thing! :D

And then Dubya'll do something stupid (again) and be impeached, and guess who'll be prez!

8. You know, to sociopaths (psychopaths, to be frank)
the nagging question of what would it be like to shoot someone may
have flashed across that atavistic brainpan, and next thing you know
your Bush 'Pioneer' buddy is bleeding in the dirt.

Just sayin'.

Sometimes accidents, while not conscious pre-frontal decisions, aren't.

14. Oh, hadn't thought of that - might have happened just cuz Cheney
got pissed off. Not quite an intentional homocide attempt, but not quite an accident, either.

Maybe not a drunken accident, but a drunken rage.
