2. It depends
If I'm around too many happy couples during the day it will bum me a little, but it really doesn't bother me all that much. This year I'm the more indifferent to Valentine's Day than I've been in years.

5. I'm seeking refuge in the comfort of my home today.
So I don't have to see happy couples all over the place. :)

7. This is just another day
I'm not bummed out that I am single and I could care less. I don't get whiny that I have no one to love me and blah blah blah.

8. I was just gonna say "Yer single, right?"
For Paired People forgetting Valentine's Day is second only to forgetting your anniversary.
It's one of those days you can either pile up a buncha points or go into the negative numbers.

9. I'm not single but don't really observe
Sometimes, on a whim, I'll get him something and sometimes on a whim, he'll get me something. It's always a surprise because there's no "rule" that we celebrate Valentine's Day and that makes it fun when one of us does come through. This year, we're going camping over the weekend and have decided that's better than any chocolate heart could ever be. So that's cool.

Besides, after 5 years together, we still make our friends sick - most recent quote from a guy who visited - "Jesus, it's a perpetual honeymoon with you two, for crying out loud!"

It's always Valentine's Day around here.

10. I'm not a fan of holidays in general.
I think most people who don't have a reason to participate feel bad on holidays, and those who do feel smug, and both are feelings we could use a lot less of in the world. Besides, why should I subsidize the printing, chocolate and sugar industries because someone else tells me to?

We don't really celebrate much of anything - our anniversary sometimes, and Juneteenth, and 19th Amendment day, and Labor Day. Some years we do something for Veterans' Day and Memorial Day, other years, not. We've finally convinced our mothers and grandmothers that Mother's Day does not mean what they think it does, so we're off the hook there, too, and we don't have contact with our fathers.

We're not Christian, so none of the Christian holidays hold any interest - including Saints' days.
