1. my best friend and I have been
friends since 1975. It will be 31 years this year since we met. She is a cousin of my first husband, that's never interfered with our relationship.

I have a friend who I last saw in 1966, we group up together in Scotland. I left there when I was 9 years old to move to Canada. She is meeting me in Toronto this summer! ! 40 years later.

3. 49 years
Best friend growing up, and still best friends. Our families go back three generations, and we grew up only a house away from each other. We still talk on the phone at least once a week, and see each other 1-3 times a year (she lives in OK. I'm in CA)

She's 20 months younger than me. I remember her learning how to walk. We went to school, church and ballet together. I beat up boys who picked on her.

It's funny, but when I think of her, I still her face as a child. When we get together, we laugh like we're still 3-year olds.

4. I have one girlfriend who I've known since the 7th grade...
We attended high school and college together....

She came to my wedding, and I went to hers....

Our babies intermingled during those years.....

She moved away, but we stayed in touch...

Then her husband got sick and died.....

She met a new gentleman, and they married....we went up for the reception...

We still talk now and then....

It's a lot of history, since we're both in our sixties now!

What a life......

6. My best friend and I met when I was seven and she was five
We lived across the street from each other most of our childhoods, went to high school together and even though she lives out of state now we still talk every two or three days. Our mothers are friends, my little sister and her little brother played football together and my late grandmother was a close friend of her grandparents, so it's a very good thing we get along since we'd have run into each other all the time growing up anyhow.

We have *nothing* in common really (she's a carniverous, SUV-driving, walmart shopping, redneck two time * voter) but we're still great friends. Don't ask me how that works, I have no idea.

15. I was just about to post about my twin sister
We're fraternal and have had our moments over the years, but she's my oldest friend. I can't remember a time she wasn't there! :)

16. One friend whose mom knew my mom before we were both born
We've been on-and-off friends at times (middle school's a bitch), but we are back to being good friends again! I consider myself very lucky to have even one friend who I have known that long. My other longest friendships only date back to '94.
