DEV2.O--Not sure whether to cringe or celebrate.
Another generation subject to devolutionary subversion!

http://disney.go.com/disneyrecords/Song-Albums/devo20/

Apparently the original members of Devo are the ones behind this.

3. Devo actually allowed that
OMFG!!

pre-teen pop-punk. Does the world really need this? And why would Devo even think of doing this!

12. This makes PERFECT SENSE. Mark Mothersbaugh is NOT a stupid man.
Think about it. The members of Devo currently create music for television and movies through Mutato Muzika, thus spreading the concept and message of devolution to the masses without them realizing it. He knows damn well that with Disney behind this, millions and millions of kids will blindly and instantly think Devo music is the greatest thing ever. If this project causes even only a small percentage of those same kids to investigate the original recordings and concepts of Devo, then I see nothing wrong with it.

TRUST ME on this. I'm a middle school music teacher, and I see how companies like Disney influence my students every day. A month or so ago, nobody knew what the hell "High School Musical" was. Now the kids can't get enough of it. They've all downloaded it, made CDs, and listen to it constantly. They're obsessed with it. If we can do the same thing with truly important music and messages like those of Devo, why not? Remember, Devo is hardcore anti-Bush. Do you really think Mark Mothersbaugh would pass up the chance to pass on such a delightful state of mind to future generations? I don't.

17. That's how they got a lot of people, I think.
I was 9 when Whip It came out, and the entire fourth grade was just bonkers about the goofy music and cartoony image. As I got older I started to comprehend the joke, and the songs took on a deeper meaning, and now I'm stuck with 'em for life, and I've got no complaints about that. I like the freak they made me.

11. Yeah, I know... well sorta
But seeing them perform live during their "Duty Now For The Future" tour back in August, 1979 I thought it was cool to see them in person.

15. They have several fine live DVDs out. I suggest all of them.
"Live 1980" is a hybrid CD/DVD (CD on one side, DVD on the other). It's a full length show from that tour. There's also one which I believe is just called "Devo Live", and was filmed at Lollapalooza in 1996, when they opened for METALLICA. It's worth it just to see Mark Mothersbaugh run through the pavilion seating during "Jocko Homo" to get Metallica fans to scream "WE ARE DEVO!" into his mic. Finally, there's "Live In The Land Of The Rising Sun". Filmed in the 90s or early 00s. They still have amazing energy on stage after all these years.

Don't listen to the cringing snobs. Devo is stupid as hell and it's supposed to be stupid as hell. The only way this would be bad would be if the new band isn't stupid enough.

Thanks.

Somehow, it seems oddly fitting to put adolescents into singing DEVO songs. I have to agree with some comments above, this does somehow seem to fit into the concept for DEVO. Now, we have kids singing the songs about topics they really have no concept about other than what their producer tells them. In some sick ways, it's perfect.

16. Be sure to read the press release! (Performed by Devo! New songs!)
Except for the obvious corporate stuff, it's all complete Devo. Note that there's two totally new Devo songs, and it was all performed by the spuds themselves. I've already placed MY preorder!

24. Ok, lets have a look at the bios...
Note: the following opinions are being made by a pissed off UW-Stevens Point comm mjaor with a bad case of the flu, who is currently hopped up on green death fucking flavor NyQuil and reeks of Vicks cough drops and Still Can't fucking sleep.

Let's look at the influences.

Lead singer Nicole: Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarkson, and the Black Eyed Peas.

Why, Bob, WHY??? Are you out to make my life more miserable than it is already? Mark, what is the exact brand of crack that you are smoking? Or did you manage to find somone who's still making Quaaludes after all these years?

Lead Guitar Nathan: Beatles,(good) hendrix (Not bad...) Zepplin (I'm beginning to actually like this...) Coldplay. COLDPLAY? You lost me with that one, man.

Drums Kane: Josh Friese, Gregg Bissonette, The Mars Volta.

Yeah, OK, I guess he ain't bad. Same for the Keyboardist and the Drummer. I guess they ain't bad.

Although, I will say this: The shit they got playing on the screens during the Whip it Video are seriously FUBAR...
