2. omigod I was thinking of that the other night
my brother's version - which I am sure was unoriginal was

"On top of old smokey
all covered with blood
I killed my poor teacher
with a .44 slug
I went to her funeral
I went to her grave
instead of throwing flowers
I threw a grenade."

This was in 1975 or 1976. Can you imagine that today? It would be national news! Zero tolerance - boy expelled for singing song. Has anybody else heard this version? Maybe my brother did make it up - he is pretty creative.
