I woke today feeling "Out of sorts." So. What is a 'sort'?
Edited on Tue Feb-21-06 12:55 PM by oneighty
Later I wonder what 'out of sorts' means. As far as I know I do not own any sorts. As a matter of fact I do not even know what a 'sort' is.

If I were out of 'sorts' might I be hungry? Naked? Homeless? No friends? Banned?

So tell me; Just what is a 'Sort'?

1. To wear away along the edges; fray.
2. To exhaust physically or emotionally.

12. Oh! I told Jitterbug
a frazzle was a frizzle without hair.

Guess I was way wrong. Huh?

5. Indeed Redstone
I googled before posting.

It is an interesting phrase tied into many things.

Originating in the French language it seems.

Related to Depression dejection.

It is worth a Google to get it sorted out.

8. Gawd, I'm old. I didn't need google...I used to do printing the old way,
with hand-assembled metal type.

9. Did you really?
It seems like it would be terribly tedious; was it?

10. I've known printers before, but it's been years...
since anyone has mentioned setting type by hand. :-)

11. Very interesting
that you actually did that.

I had an acquaintance that was a type-setter but I have never seen it done.

Quite an art I bet. Isn't it?

14. More a trade than an art. Although I do know the origin of the phrase
"etaoin shrdlu" that you used to see in the newspapers way back when.

Do you?
