Today the lounge has reminded me of things I am thankful for:
I am not addicted to anything but the lounge
None of the significant men in my life are misogynist assholes
I am not out of TP (or any other necessities) and if I was I have the resources to fix the problem

I know it's not the traditional time of year to ask this question, but we should dwell on the positive more often, I think. What are you thankful for today?

6. I'm thankful for many things:
My husband of 31 years and we are in love as the first day we met in 1973

My old friend is on her way here from England and we haven't seen each other in 20 years

My health. I can still do 15 mile day hikes

My dogs are the sweetest animals in the world

My mom and siblings, cousins and extended families

For DU keeping me sane during the Bush administration

Many other things, too

84. Hey buddy, I wish you a speedy recovery.
You have my total sympathy. I've had lots of times when I've slept funky on my neck and then it's been tweaked for days and days...sometimes even to the point of having to wear a neck brace b/c the literal weight of my head is too much. It's a bummer.

Did you know that each astro sign "rules" a certain part of the body and Aries rules the head? It's been interesting for me to note other Aries friends of mine (like you) that have issues pertaining to head stuff: like headaches, neck pain, etc...

These days, however, I'm getting lots of physical therapy for my left hip. I'm getting better, but it's been a long journey.

coming along on the very day I got to the end of my rope with the job I hate, as well as the DU Loungers who are so generous with good thoughts. I'm also thankful for my accountant who will make paying my taxes less of a nightmare later today.
Oh, and my warm bed which I can't wait to get into tonight because I was up all night getting my resume and portfolio samples together for this kickass job posting I found.
And finally, the hot shower (which better have actual hot water and not that lukewarm BS, or I'm crossing this off of my list) I'm about to get into to wake my tired self up.

30. I'm thankful that I will be moving to a much nicer place -
even if it means almost too much work at present;

I'm grateful to have a good enabled pension - even though I don't know if I'll have it next year;

I'm grateful I like my SO still - even though things don't always run smooth with us;

I'm grateful to have two beautiful horses - even though one is sick and I still fear for him;

I'm grateful that to-day was the first pre-spring-day here - even though we still will have some snow and freezing temperatures.

:) That's a good thread. I needed to be reminded, all run down and bitchy as I was:)

43. Well, the horse has to have major dental work done. The SO
(actual owner of that horse) and I decided that since he can eat now, even though with some difficulty, we'd wait some weeks until the weather gets better with that operation. After all our place has no electricity, no running water, and last time the vet should have come we had a snowstorm - no condition for a vet to operate on a horse unless the life of the animal is in danger. Yesterday he developed a bad swelling on the jaw, though, and he also has a very ugly inflamed and swollen spot underneath the chin. So the vet will come to-morrow anyway. We'll see what he says. :scared:

Thanks for asking! (I know my answers are a bit lenghty but I so love the horses, they're like my children).

65. Mom died Labor Day 1999 after living with Michael and me for 7 months
My dad, after dropping out of school and working his ass off to feed and educate us 5 kids, went "middle-aged crazy" in the early '90's after 40 years of marriage. He left mom sick and alone for the last 8 years of her life. I love him tremendously, and I respect the sacrifices he made for us, but when he left her, he left his children too. I haven't seen him since a family wedding in 2000. I love and miss the man he was at one time, but I can't forgive how she was hurt by being abandoned while terminally ill. I know I should get over myself, but I just can't do it.

I prefer to remember him from the happier days when we were still a happy family.

63. Sweet.
I'm glad you're in a nuruturing spot right now. As above, so below, as you know. I understand that the efforts we make at the beginning of this year will be working for us from now on.

It's been a great day today, so far. :thumbsup:

61. Thankful I could get out of bed this morning
because there are many days where I simply can't.

I am also thankful that there are other people that care whether or not I get out of bed, too.

The last year has taught me to be thankful for what I have, and not dwell on what I don't have. I am much happier living this way, too.

62. Hi NNNS
I'm thrilled you're feeling relatively well today. It's funny how sometimes out attitude changes our lives far more than our circumstances, isn't it?

83. Mine's been a little of both
Getting out of an emotionally abusive relationship and a bad environment has done wonders for my outlook. But you can only make of life what you choose to make of it. Some of the most thankful and hopeful people I know are those who are in what I would consider some of the worst circumstances imaginable.

Thanks for a very good thread.

87. Yeah, I've been worlds better since I got out of a bad relationship too
I was talking with another local DUer and she said she hadn't noticed how depressed when I was with my son's Dad until she saw me after the breakup, that I was like another person. Changing one's situation definitely helps, but it takes enough of positive outlook to see the change you need and work for it.

68. Healthy, bright, happy, funny kids!
Healthy me and healthy, great spouse
My wonderful furry creatures (kitties/bunny)
Ample shelter
Good, fresh fruits and veggies and pasta and bread and butter and chocolate and wine
Living in a leafy, liberal city
The Internet(s)

I could go on, but I should get back to work. Oh, I'm thankful for some income, as well.

But, no wine? Oh, the humanity! ;)

I'm really sadly vice-impaired. :shrug:

80. Positive? Me? Hah!
I don't often feel like good people, I fail so obviously in so many ways.

But I've been blessed with truly wonderful people in my life. I try to live up to that. I fail, but I try.

Khash.

82. Trying is all we can do
but I think most good people are rather self-depracating. It's what drives them to work harder and do better, in my experience.

Glad to know I could brighten so many people's day a bit just by posting something in the lounge. :)

Am also glad to know I can be here in the Lounge and just enter into conversation where I wish.

It's like a huge cocktail party sometimes.

85. I am thankful for lots of things
For a job that helps me support my family, and that I don't hate.
For a place to live, heat, light, food and water.
For a husband who I love to spend time with and who makes me laugh.
For a daughter who drives me crazy with her curiosity.
For the change to finish my degree.
For friends, including Lounge friends!

86. I am happy to be alive on this fine day.
I'm also VERY happy to have our hot tub up and running again, after having the heating element replaced. It's been out of commission for about a week and I've been really missing it's therapuetic assistance for my hip pain. The good news is, I'll be out in it very soon, soaking up the hot and healing waters.....

Ah, Life is Good.....

I give thanks.
