I'm so proud of my daughter!
She's a fr in college.

I talked to her yesterday and found out she is going to spend her Spring break in NOLA doing volunteer work.

1. Yaaay for alphababy!
Good job Mom! It is always so validating when we see our kids grow up to make decisions like this. Good for her...good on you!

4. Thanks. Our family went on-line about the "Wolves into Yellowstone" time
At first we all had "wolfish" screen names.

The name meant "Mom" to us and still does.

Everyone else gradually went on to other "snicks" but I've mostly kept mine in one form or another.

It's fun.
I like how it immediately raises the hackles of wingnuts. :D

7. You've done a great job raising a thinking, caring human being.
Sit back and be proud, basking in the glow of a job well done.

And the rest of the world thanks you for releasing upon us a productive human being and not some spolied, entitled, selfish brat!

12. She's going with a group from her school.
I'll check on the funding part.

I usually can't get ahold of her until late PM her time. Which is REALLY late east coast time. :D

19. Please do
It's a new thing my wife and I are doing now, helping the smaller volunteer groups or individuals versus giving to the big corporate charities after hurricane Katrina. The smaller groups and individuals usually spend all the donated money, along with funds of their own to help the cause versus the big groups that use donations to help pay for the high salaries of their management, buying new vehicles or building a new headquarters buildings. Who knows, maybe our small contribution to a small group that does not have the deep pockets and political influence as say the Red Cross might mean an extra vehicle or person can go along that maybe couldn't before, maybe a couple more meals or less to spend on the high cost of gas traveling. I'll bookmark this thread or you can IM me if you get any details.

17. You should be proud of her
She sounds like a wonderful young woman.

You should also be proud of yourself - children are savages, they need to be taught empathy and care for other people. You did a good job :)

Khash.
