I'm such a softie - I had tears rolling down my cheeks when
the Lincoln (NE) 8 claimed their prize! I was so happy for them, and proud of them. And they were funny, as was their lawyer!

1. I'd like to see that. Far cry from another situation w/multiple winners
I recall -- ticketholder claimed he won but it was with a ticket be bought separately from the group.

2. CNN covered the whole thing
so maybe they have it on their website.

The people were 7 male, 1 female, 2 Vietnamese refugees, 1 African refugee, and the rest all looked Caucasian. The chick had only kicked in 3 times. Many had been playing whenever the jackpot got over 45 million.

4. I lived for 15 years in a meatpacking town.
The people who won this lottery deserve every single cent. I can't wait to read the whitebread Nebraska newspapers and see all the jerks who'll automatically assume that the three immigrants among the eight are illegal. So what if they're "illegal"? The government will take its cut from the top, and the eight who won will _still_ be better off than they were. Nothin' wrong with that, in my opinion.

6. There was an advantage living in a "meat packing town"
You could buy beer under age.
BTW - I worked in a meat packing plant for six months.

5. I did too!
I liked the fact that they were mostly 2nd and 3rd shifters and they made it big. You know they worked damn hard, and at one of the jobs I could never, ever do.

The first Vietnamese guy that spoke really touched my the most - the one with the little son. He had tears in his eyes, and so did I.

I wasn't expecting to be happy about the winners. I figured I'd be jealous and they'd be wretchedly unlikeable. I was wrong on one count (I'm still jealous).

9. You are right, envious is a much better word.
'Jealous'is too strong and mean-spirited. I wish these folks all the best, and I'm glad they won.

I hated seeing that Repub Congressman win a while back. This is how it's SUPPOSED to be.

:)
