Proof positive that the younger generation is truly fucked up:

Have you ever heard of this music?? OH MY GOD, it is the WORST motherfucking thing EVER to happen to music!!! This music compilation is to music what Texas Roadhouse is to beef. What they do is take top-40 songs that REALLY SUCK to begin with, and then they re-make them, but this time with shittier instruments, and then there's a chorus of dopey tweeners singing the lyrics. I saw a commercial for one of these CD's on Cartoon Network recently, and even the commercial was the most reatrded thing I have ever seen on TV. It was a bunch of idiotic sugar-laden tweeners singing along with the shitty music from the album doing god-awful stupid things.

I weep for any child under the age of 13.

2. Um. I blame the parents.
Kids don't make those censored, out-of-tune albums. It's not their fault that they're inflicted with those aural icepicks to the brain.

3. I disagree.
If kids didn't lick this shit up like ice cream, this kind of shit would never be made. It's all about demand.

4. Exactly
Parent's shouldn't be letting their prepubescent kids sing "This Love" or "Toxic."

5. It's all about a buck and making the record label companies happier.
When I saw the tv advert of 8 year olds singing songs that, in the original context, are considerably different...

Where's the religious reich for once?! And for once I'd agree with them!

6. Uhm, how old are you? Do you remember being 13?
Edited on Sun Feb-26-06 01:02 PM by Benfea
At 13, everyone is at least slightly insane where musical tastes are concerned. I myself owned a Hall and Oates record at that age (I just dated myself), which is easily as bad as the above CD (in its own way).

7. Not necessarily. Some of the material on these albums
Is questionable for the target audience, even if it's cleaned up.

I remember seeing one of the commercials with a perky pre-bopper singing something I recognized as more than a bit suggestive (I can't remember exactly what the tune in question was--sorry).

My kid has an iPod and I can have some control over what he listens to--and I have to give him props, he has some pretty good taste.

20. I'm 23, and when I was 13, I was listening to a lot better stuff.
I was into the whole 90's Alternative thing back then. I was listening to actual REGULAR music, not anything pre-packaged by Disney, or some other kind of corporate pavlum.

Man, you're getting old before your time. My grandpa used to make statements like that.

I used to like Michael Jackson and the Monkees and the Bee Gees when I was a kid and I turned out OK. :)

9. Yeah, but did you like
a bunch of hardly-any-talent tweeners singing a shitty cover of The Monkees.

And since we are dating ourselves, I happened to like the Bee Gees before disco (yeah, that's right, I remember music before Disco--thank god for The Sex Pistols). Some of there stuff was OK, until they decided to hop on the sparkly ball bandwagon.

13. That early Bee Gees is the funk
But I didn't learn about that stuff until I was a young adult.

I might have liked that tweener stuff back then, but who knows? I don't think that was being done in the early 80s. Someone mentioned above that some of the songs that they are singing are sexually suggestive and I think that's wrong. But if it's just innocuous pop then I don't see anything wrong with it.

10. My son is 7
and he is a wonderful, free-spirited child. No, he's not fucked up, the corporate demons who try to brainwash him are fucked up. My son will receive all the guidance and love he needs to overcome what the corporations are doing to him.

12. Excellent point; my son turned 9 yesterday and is showing signs
of remarkably good taste in music. He even shares my love for before my time Motown.

21. Seen that ad, they are horrible.
But if you want totally fucked up, try "Prussian Blue."

Two blond-haired, blue-eyed tween girls "singing" racist shit.

They are the latest version of "Danny's Rule."
