I gave a gift today....one that I haven't given in a long time......
A gift of life.....

From my bloodstream to a stranger's......

My platelets.

Anybody here ever heard of apheresis....or done it?

1. Eeeek...
needles freak me out, particularly when they have to remain in my arm for any length of time.

Good on you though, Peggy! Someone will be exceedingly grateful for your donation!

2. My dear huskerlaw!
I was beginning to think noone would appreciate my thread....

So glad to see you! These needles are verrrry small...not like whole blood needles at all.....

It took about an hour, and I watched "The 40 yr old Virgin."

I felt so damn good after ......like I'd paid for my sins!

3. hahahahah
and how did you like the movie, dear Peggy??

It's one of my favorite sophomoric films. ;)

4. It was OK......very funny in places, and not so in others......
I didn't get to finish it yet....

But so far the parts I liked best were where our hero is with the girl from the EBay store......

I didn't care too much for the co-workers.....

You might check out UCLA's blood bank. They do apheresis there, and they have good staffing.

Once the needles are in, you no longer feel them. And that's the truth.

It is a most worthwhile procedure. Platelets are always in demand, worse than for blood.
