Edited on Tue Feb-28-06 12:47 AM by HEyHEY

It's when we stop questioning our sanity that we truly lose it.

24. Oh yes

But that is a good sign I have been told. If one is lucid enough to question their sanity, it means they still have some. Only after one is truly gone do they stop wondering.

25. Yes, Try Waking Up With an Anxiety Attack
with your mind racing and you don't have any control over it.

If your question was a serious one, you need to find out what's wrong and get rid of it, living in denial is for braindead repukes. If your question was a rhetorical one, the answer is also yes, I lost interest in mainstream society a long time ago.

I'm really happy I "lost it", although I never really had it to begin with so it doesn't really count. The real answer to your question is that if you can still ask yourself if you're losing it, you haven't lost it.

26. I have some serious mood problems that can include cognitive distortions
When my brain chemistry goes awry, I start thinking everyone is angry at me. Rationally, I can understand that I'm just having a brain problem, but on an emotional level I can't stop feeling like I have pissed everybody off.

Other weird things my brain does are panic attacks and catastrophizing. In other words, sometimes I'll just be sure I'm about to die (or worse), and become terrified; and I will have some small thing go wrong and believe it is The End Of Everything. Those leave me relatively cognitively stable, though, so I can step back and recognize, "No, I'm not really about to die/fly apart into tiny pieces/lose consciousness/vomit" or, in the case of catastrophizing, I can say, "This is just a tiny thing, I will get through it."

Living inside a malfunctioning brain is always an adventure.

Tucker

28. I talk to myself all the time
I have avid fantasies as well. I always cultivated it for creative stuff like writing. I started making up stories as a kid and have always done so. The talking out loud thing is a habit, because when I was little I was nervous about speaking in front of people and being too quiet etc. I practiced "speaking up." Now I just always do those things. However sometimes I wonder if I'm going to start flipping out like Jack Nicholson in "The Shining." I think creative people often walk a fine line between genius and nutcase. :)

30. For about 10 years
Mostly when I was riding Geryhounds and living in SRO Hotels across the country; I snapped out of it for the most part, but I still had times at the bottom.

I still howl at the moon every so often, though; it's part of my make-up, I guess..

31. right now i am... i haven't slept and am trying to decide whether or not
to brew up a pot of coffee and try to wade through today without sleeping...

i am getting too old for this, lol...

(sometimes, when i am reading conservative columns and transcripts of dittohead radio shows, i catch myself momentarily wondering if i really am the crazy one... but i do the same thing when i catch myself subconsciously salivating over the idea of a big greasy piece of cheese pizza and then i get nauseous, so it passes, it all passes... with time...)
