I don't care what Imus and CNN say.

Jon was funny, witty, and masterfully tweaked the pretentiousness of it all. Hollywood thrives on navel-gazing and drinking its own bath water. Jon rattled their cages in a deft way.

He was great.

1. I totally agree...
I thought he was very funny...kind of in the Steve Martin mold, who I also thought did a great job!

2. I agree
I thought though he was a little stiff at first he warmed up and did great.

You have to remember, he wasn't in his own environment and he gets better as he goes along so his short spurts of time didn't really facilitate his usual greatness.

3. He was great.
I thought he injected a lot of insight and fun into the show. Colbert's narrations for the skits were very well done as well.

8. he made me sick (for the last time) the day after
Coretta Scott King's funeral. I posted in GD:

"i tuned in for a few minutes, just in time to hear him saying what a great job Matthews did yesterday, how some of the people that spoke yesterday seemed to forget that they were in a Church, how a funeral service is no place for political jabs, how Jimmy Carter was probably the worst president and is a mean and bitter man."

...heard enough out of Imus's mouth right there for the rest of eternity.

with a big thud, with the live audience. Hey, he's not supposed to make fun of "us"! and the joke about being at a big gathering of democrats and you don't have to write a check to the DNC.

He was better than Chris Rock, who came off as dickish - Jon is not mean!

11. Jon was excellent and so was Dolly
Am I the only one that thought there was a clear message being sent last night to the progressives in hollywood and the nation.

We are here. We have a message. We will continue to bring up the important issues that need a voice.

And the right-wing conservatives can not steal religion.

Dolly got hollywood to clap along as she sung about Jesus.

What more does everybody want? This is how we are going to get the job done and turn this country around.

It will not happen overnight
