I am in love...
with this dog, and this foster mom...

please read, and if you can give him a home- do it. One of the best rescue stories I have read.

http://www.craigslist.org/eby/pet/146195324.html

Bo was found as a stray, protecting and helping to feed another stray, a small white puppy we named Tessie who we assume had been recently orphaned. He was a surrogate mother to Tess, though he was not much more than a puppy himself at the time. Bo would go around and beg for food, which he would then bring back for Tessie. But most of the people he would beg for food from kicked and otherwise abused him. The volunteers that found them tried to leave food and water out for them but those would always get knocked over by passersby. By the time the volunteers had managed to find a place they could take the 2 strays to, Bo had been so starved and beaten that he could no longer move. There was gum in his hair and an open stab wound. Even as frightened and in as much pain as he had to have been, Bo's highest priority was that Tessie was taken care of too. When he was taken in for medical treatment, he cried until Tess was found and reunited with him.

1. Some People Should Be Taken Out and Shot
No, that would be a waste of a good bullet; rather, taken out and set on fire.

I hope the dogs find good homes with real humans beings.

3. read the whole post if you have time, it is very uplifting!
I am sure this dog will find a wonderful home, I wish I could take him. Bo sounds like a wonderful dog, maybe someone from DU here in SF will take him and I can go visit.

I want to send this woman a gift, something, to say thank you for the job she did fostering and the post she did to find this guy a home.

there is a very special place in Hell for people who abuse animals and children.

8. They're Closer to Me Than They Are To San Francisco
408 and 650 area codes - that's my part of the Valley; San Francisco is 415. I have six cats, though.

4. me too.
I knew a woman who did just about that, she got land as an inheritance from an uncle. She quit her job and opened the first No-Kill Shelter in the San Antonio area. I took a dog to her that I found at a gas station on I35 in Austin, along with a food donation. I wish I could keep them all.

5. People really p*ss me off sometimes
Cruelty for no reason at all! :grr:

Even as frightened and in as much pain as he had to have been, Bo's highest priority was that Tessie was taken care of too. When he was taken in for medical treatment, he cried until Tess was found and reunited with him.

And there are some that claim animals have no feelings, no intelligence and no empathy.

I'm glad the two are now safe and being cared for.

7. The reason I adore animals so
is they're better people than most humans.

12. I had the same response, anyone who has bonded with an animal
knows they have deep, complex feelings and empathy.

I am reading a behavior book on dogs right now, it's amazing. I wish I could take this dog so badly.

16. It sounds like projection to me
Dogs are pack animals and it is common for the leader of the pack to hunt for the group, especially the young. The crying for his/her buddy is not so much concern for the other, but of an injured animal which does not want to be "alone". I am not sure how much empathy they have. I own a mother and son, and each would be quite content to get all of the dog treats or table scraps and leave none for the other. They stop sharing food when they get older.

17. we'll have to agree to disagree.
I do not doubt for one moment that they are capable of empathy and have emotions. They are different from humans, but have their own set of behaviors that bear this out...

6. Sounds like Foster Mommy should keep him, she's obviously in love.
What a wonderful little dog. I love the picture of him looking up at his foster brother. Thanks for sharing this. I kind of wish I lived in San Francisco.

13. I wondered why she isn't able to keep him as well,
sounds like they have a full house. She probably has requests from the rescue group to take on others and needs room to do so. What a saint!

11. I've sent the link to a friend of mine whose family lives in
the SF Bay area -- I'd grab Bo in a heartbeat if I didn't live in NC with seven cats. What a precious dog.

I wish a miserable existence upon all who harm animals. Bad for my karma, I know, but humans are just too f*cked up.

15. Wonderful!
Thanks, I'd be glad to help in any way I can if there are barriers, let me know.

I think of the Karma this way, they will get theirs! I just hope it comes around, and they KNOW why it does.

20. this is a fantastic story
I think I'm in love too, with both Bo and the wonderful human being who nursed Bo back to health and has given him the love he deserves.

And as others have said, the people who abused Bo are scum.
