Poll question: What is your favorite "Wedding" movie??
Edited on Sat Apr-01-06 09:52 PM by Blue Belle
I was just clicking through the TV Program guide and noticed a lot of "Wedding" themed movies playing this weekend, which caused me to wonder: What is your favorite "Wedding" movie (with the word "Wedding" in the Title)?? I know there are too many to list, so if I have missed one, please add your favorite!

2. "Muriel's Wedding" is a great, great movie.
an incisive commentary on the wedding culture.

Another film: "Four Weddings and a Funeral", of course.

6. I love Hugh Grant, but
He's just not Wedding Crashers funny. I liked his "9 months" w/Julianne Moore, that's about it.

14. That was my issue with the movie, too
Cardboard cutout Andie. :puke: She's a beautiful woman, but...they could have used so many other actors that had chops.

The rest of it was fantastic! (but Andie does a serious detriment to the movie, in my eyes)

19. She was so bad...

The rest of the cast was fantastic, but I have never seen a movie with Andie McDowell where she wasn't wooden in every frame. :eyes:

27. I agree - she pretty much ruined an otherwise charming movie.
She's a terrible actress, imho.

9. I laughed like crazy
the first time I saw that movie.

But then the second time around, I think I was just caught up in the hype. I don't know. IT just wasn't good the second viewing.

17. Big, Fat, Great, Wedding is a film everyone with a big family can...
identify with. I have a huge family... and while they may not be big fat greek eaters, they are big fat eaters none the less. This is totally going to be my wedding (which makes eloping sound better and better every day). :)

11. Other: "The Wedding Banquet"
I really liked "Muriel's Wedding" and "My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding" but I'd say "The Wedding Banquet" is my favorite.

22. Excellent
Very cool film about a gay male couple, one of whom feels he has to stage a traditional wedding with an ethnically appropriate woman in order to please his traditional parents.

Exactly the movie I was going to mention :yourock:

15. OMG... they had a documentary on Cary Grant on PBS the other night...
They showed clips of Philadelphia Story (among others, obviously) but I had no idea that he was the only person NOT nominated for an Oscar in that movie. Jimmy Stewart won Best Actor for that movie!! Increadible! I loved Philadelphia Story and thought it was a shame that Cary Grant didn't get more recognition. He was great in that film.

20. I LOVE Muriel's Wedding
Background: Coach is trying to find a woman in Oz to marry his South African athlete, so he can compete in the Olympics.
He wrote an ad in the paper, and Muriel responds.

When she's sitting by the pool, awestruck by this magnificent blonde South African swimmer (an Olympic hopefull = body of a god) and the coach/go-between, mentions about the problems with racism in South Africa.

Muriel...staring at Adonis, blurts out "what's the problem? Are you black?"

And dammit...I LOVED all that ABBA music! It's one of the very, very few movies I have on DVD...because I watch it a lot.

24. I love that movie
She spends so much of it being obsessed with getting married so she can "finally be somebody". Then after marrying that hunk of an Olympic swimmer she comes to realize she doesn't need marriage to be a somebody, she always has been a somebody. I love that message.
