Stern squirt, back ender, or rocket move?
Edited on Sat Apr-01-06 09:56 PM by eyepaddle
It was one of those three things. Believe it or not folks, those are not unpleasant sexual moves straight from the Urban Dictionary, but are in fact kayaking "playboat" moves. I've often wondered if the people who coin these terms are trying to use a double entendre, or are so into the sport they are blindered as to any possible salacious meanings at all.

I've met some people who are WAAAYYYYYYYY into paddling, so I wouldn't rule out the second answer.

I posted a dilemma last night, seen here:

Well, against a heightened fear response I decided to go for it. Upon arriving at the Kettle, my freinds and I decided, well, maybe not today--the river was friggin' HUGE and there were still chunks of ice running downstream at semi-regular intervals, plus the much hoped for sun was not in evidence, but a cold wind was. My trio of paddling partners and decided on a "park and play" spot past the end of the regular run. The waves here still big (around 3-5') and the water icy, but the section was only a few hundred yards long, and the car parked nearby, so if it became intolerable, you weren't committed for a few hours.

I still managed to get throttled--but at least one of my ill-advised moves resulted in my boat launching airborne at a totally vertical line as I crested one of the large glassy-smooth waves. It was also gratifying that even after plunging deep into the cold dark waters rolling up was actually assisted by the buoyancy of my boat. I don't know if my stunt classifies as a stern squirt, a back ender, or is simply a rocket move--all I know is I will sleep well tonight! :)

However, I am REALLLLLLLY looking forward to warmer weather!
