MEET THE METS,
MEET THE METS,
Step right up and greet the Mets!
Bring your kiddies,
bring your wife;
Guaranteed to have the time of your life
because the Mets are really sockin’ the ball; knocking those home runs over the wall!
East side,
West side,
everybody’d coming down
to meet the M-E-T-S Mets of New York town!

Ride Captain Ride

Seventy-three men sailed up from the San Francisco Bay
Rolled off of their ship, and here's what they had to say
"We're callin' everyone to ride along to another shore
We can laugh our lives away and be free once more"

But no one heard them callin', no one came at all
'Cause they were too busy watchin' those old raindrops fall
As a storm was blowin' out on the peaceful sea
Seventy-three men sailed off to history

Ride, captain ride upon your mystery ship
Be amazed at the friends you have here on your trip
Ride captain ride upon your mystery ship
On your way to a world that others might have missed

(Repeat first two verses)

(Chorus)

Ride, captain ride upon your mystery ship
Be amazed at the friends you have here on your trip

....

Was this song about that pirate, Sir Francis Drake?

32. That song is a place in time for me
Took a job in Texas ( I knew is would be bad but I had NO idea) because of the money and left paradise, AKA San Diego.
On the way towards the CA Border in the middle of the night, a full moon and stars wirling all around, I stopped at the top of a mountain pass and looked back to my beloved San Diego for the last time, and that song was playing. My heart ached like I was leaving life behind, because I knew I would never return. Madeit back to Cali, but just like I knew, not San Diego, and probably never again.

here is my request
you don't have to play it

I've been listening to your show on the radio
and you seem like a friend to me

Band or person, I don't know: Charlie Dore (pronounced doe-RAY)

If you -- anyone! -- can find it anywhere, I'll be forever in your debt. It's not the song -- it's the memories it invokes. I can't even remember any other words or any other part of the tune. That's the chorus.
