Help. I think I might need serious chemical intervention:
I have a corning wear glass pan that has been used seriously hard for the past 2 years. It has greased BAKED onto it that I cannot get off...around the top edges.

I have scrubbed the crap out of this thing.

Any suggestions?

2. Well ...
You could try letting it soak for a while and then going at it with a brill-o pad, but that might scratch the pan.

One thing my mother suggested was to dissolve a dishwasher tablet in water and let the pan soak in there.

4. Get a container with a lid that your glass pan will fit in.
(no aluminum) Pour in a couple of tablespoons of ammonia and set the glass pan in. Cover (you can use tinfoil) and leave over night. Wash with soap and water. The fumes from the ammonia is what helps dissolve the baked on grease. You can also do this to the "pans" that are under the burners on the stove.

5. I have a couple - but yeah they are (nasty) chemical ones
The first is nasty because of politics, but we found back in the day that the best bong cleaner ever was Amway laundry detergent - don't even know if Amway still exists but I do remember that stuff was amazing.

You might try oven cleaner - it shouldnt huyrt the glass any more than scrubbing with various things mentioned above - it is designed for porceline so...????

Electric dishwashing detergent is pretty harsh - I bet it would be a close match to the Amway clothes detergent - do you have a dishwasher (doesn't sound like it from your post)? Try some store brand - the dry kind - soak in hot water for a while then scrub - may need repeating. Otherwise multiple washes in a dishwasher should do it - any friends willing to help?

7. Amway still exists.
And, since you mentioned it, if you'd like to post your address, I'd be more than happy to swing by with a sample of some of the latest Amway products. Say... in an hour or so?

See you there!
