1. Meh
Computer pinball? I just don't get that.

Y'gotta feel pinball, man. Every table has a personality. You feel it, you figure it out, you get inside it — and then you shred that sucker.

2. I agree.
You gotta be able to put your hands on the machine for it to be real pinball. :D

7. that reminds me of an episode of "the dating game"
where the contestant was asked to describe herself as a pinball machine.

She did a great job, although the only line I really remember is "I always light up when you score!"

4. True enough, but...
Windows Pinball has dead-on movement. Apparently the Win NT folks came up with it to show that their graphics were as good as a Mac's...or something like that.

Either way, even without the "feel", it does play like the real thing.

6. I think it's pretty cool
and better than nothing. It lacks something when you do not have the thrill of winning a free game and high scores become unattainable, but my way was always to 'stand like a statue' and make the necessary shots.

I just think it needs a couple things.
First, since there are no free games when all games are free, they should allow the possibility of winning extra balls by points and also by matching.
Second, it was always kinda fun watching your bonus points and your multiplier add up. With this game they add up way too fast.

Still, it is at least as fun as free cell, and more affordable than real pinball.

12. what did you do - get a mac or something?
I still have minesweeper, only it is called winmine.
No I guess that was windows 98 or something.
I just checked start-all programs-games
and it is called minesweeper.
That one has too much thinking and guessing. It annoys me when I invest 700 seconds or more in a game and then I have to make a guess.
I made a custom game of that which is 20 by 30 with only about 15 mines in it. Kinda funny. Any spot you hit and it basically shows you where all the mines are. Again, it was cooler with the slower computers because it would sort of ripple across the board. Now, it's just - bam!

8. thanks, that is kinda cool
but really, sometimes an encyclopedia can have too much information. Keep it up and it will someday take several planets to store the thing. Do they have an entry on Durchhausen yet?

13. perhaps you missed
in the corner where it says "High Score 5 - 9 million something"
My high score #1 is now 16.5 million which I got on May 8 :P
I started to date my high scores so I would remember when I got them, and also because nobody else would go out with me. My oldest high score is from March 14th.
My 16 million game was unbelievable because I think I only had about 300 K after the first two balls and then won about five extra balls on the third ball.

14. extra balls are the key if I remember
I haven't actually been bored enough to play in a LONG time

I started to date my high scores so I would remember when I got them, and also because nobody else would go out with me.

this sentence creeped me out a little :D

20. is that "Joker Poker"?
I totally mastered that machine one day before the State Fair. Unfortunately had to walk away with 3 credits left so I could get to a job re-interview. It was alot of fun though.
The pinball, that is, not the job.

21. I hated Williams machines
Their flippers didn't have the response of those on Bally or Gottlieb tables. I dunno if they had weak solenoids or what, but the action had a delay and it didn't feel solid.

This is my all-time favorite table: "Home Run" by Gottlieb, 1971. Used to tear that sucker apart. Only thing I didn't like was it had no plunger; you started a ball by pressing the right flipper button and it'd shoot one from the well. But, dog, that sucker had great target action and a layout that made high scores pretty easy once you got used to it.
