3. No he is not...
He's a long-time Democrat, has campaigned for Democrats many times in the past, has give nscads of money to Democrats, and has a personal friend named Arnold Schwarzenegger who ran for governor and won. So in this case, he's helping his friend. It's possible to be a nuanced person, y'know. Even in Hollywood.

Recall that Warren Buffett, no fan of Bush, also aided Schwarzenegger's campaign.

4. No...
Warren Buffet tried to help Ahnold with California's budget. That didn't last very long, since Ahnold didn't take Buffet's advice. Buffet was an advisor (and pimped as proof that Ahnold was bipartisan, at that), he never CAMPAIGNED for him.

Nuance is fine, but Ahnold? Frankly, I a bit creeped out if they are close friends. Blech.

of Democrats, and through them met Arnold. What's so strange 'bout that?

11. I'm not finding the Dem support
on any of the campaign contribution websites...so...??

He made one small donation to a Kennedy-Shriver...that doesn't make a logical leap to him being buddies with Ahnold.

16. Here...
According to the Los Angeles Times, Schwarzenegger spouse Maria Shriver is lobbying for Lowe. The two are said to be longtime friends.

Lowe, like Shriver, is a Democrat. Schwarzenegger, much to the dismay of Rush Limbaugh, is a Republican.

Lowe, unlike Schwarzenegger, is a seasoned political hand. He manned a Kool-Aid stand for presidential candidate George McGovern in 1968; joined forces with Jane Fonda in 1986 to campaign in California for a clean-drinking water initiative; talked up Democratic White House hopeful Michael Dukakis in 1988"

That was just from a quick google search. I stated Lowe's Kennedy connection not out of any monetary contribution, but just becuase it's a well-known fact. Didn't think I'd have to go scrounging stories to support this -- I figured everyone just sort of knew

17. So then he's a sellout?
He's a Dem, but he'll sell out his political beliefs to campaign for a "friend"?

Yeah, that's not really helping my view of him...

Either way, I'm not claiming the guy is evil or anything, I'm just disappointed. And I now find him slightly less cute.

No big deal.

18. Eh, depends how you look at it...
You can look at it like you do, that he sells out his political beliefs for his friends.

Or you could say that he puts his personal loyalties above petty politics.

My only point is to say that he's not a Republican, he's a Schwarzenegger supporter. If Lowe continues to support Republicans after Arnold, I will personally eat my dirty boxer shorts.

Bookmark this and hold me to it!

19. See, that's the thing though
It's not petty politics if you're campaigning for him. That's not being a friend, that's endorsing his political beliefs.

IMO, you cannot both be a Democrat and actively campaign for Arnold. Perhaps you could during the recall, when Arnold pretended to be moderate, but you can't now. Arnold's record is NOT moderate. Arnold is a Republican. I mean sure, you can keep your Dem party membership card, but you can't have it both ways. You can't claim to support the Dem party platforms while waving an Arnold sign.

20. Point taken....
though, honestly, if I had a good friend who ran for office as a Republican, I don't know what I'd do if they asked me to help.

Of course, I escape that conundrum by not associating with Republicans

6. Newsmeat shows only 2 small donations... both to Democrats
One a Kennedy-Shriver... I think it makes sense that he's friends with them and Arnold by proxy.

Sorry. Not defending it, just saying it's not as though it's some abnormality.

(And how did I fall on the defending-Rob-Lowe side of this argument, anyway? I don't even like the guy's acting! :) )
