Does anyone else out there think Liberia's history's the saddest in Africa
Edited on Tue Jun-13-06 05:11 PM by Taverner
I mean the place was started by freed slaves wishing to set up Democracy in Africa - they wanted to be the light of Africa. Best intentions laid.

But Liberia's history is one of the bloodiest in Africa. Not even taking into account the number that butcher Charles Taylor did on the nation, there was also the Doe coup in the 80's, ending it's existance as a Democracy...and the child slavery that goes on in their Diamond mines.

Liberia's unemployment is 85% - the worst in the world. Think about that for a minute - 85% of the people there have no source of income. That's worse than Cambodia, Bosnia or anywhere else in Africa for that matter.

1. I think Rwanda's runs a close second
The Tutsis and the Hutus are the same damn race! The "differences" were planted by the white overlords in order for whites to gain control.

3. Very sad...have you ever seen Lumbumba?
It's a French made biopic about the life (and death) of Patrice Lumbumba, first President of Congo and later captured and killed by Mumbote Sese Seko.

The sadness about Liberia for me, however, is that it was started on such a grand vision - one that went to darkness so very quickly.
