And this, ladies & gents, is one of the reasons why they were among the best that ever was.

1. Since we're posting on-stage injuries...

5. OUCH!
I've taken a headstock to the head before, but thankfully nothing THAT bad. God, that had to have hurt like hell.

And what a docile crowd for such an incendiary band. If I'd ever had a chance to see Refused I'd have gone ballistic.

6. No kidding.
The energy they put into performances was insane.

2. Yow!
Boy that clip makes me, at least, see them as the US's spiritual heirs to the Birthday Party.

I only saw them once at d.c. space, and David didn't have any chandaliers to swing off of naked at that small a place.

Thanks for posting.

7. Yes,
the Birthday Party parallel is one I've seen drawn before, and I agree as vigorously now as I did then.

It's a shame you couldn't have seen any of their early Euclid Tavern shows. Yow (and the more daring members of the crowd) would swing upside-down off the i-beam in the middle of the ceiling. His cranium must be made of rubber.

3. I saw them with Ministry.
And the Butthole surfers if I remember right. Quite a show

4. I'll grant you that they had one of the best drummers who ever walked...
But I was always frustrated that JL could never come up with another song half as good as "Glamorous." Great BAND, and fantastic antic frontman, but there was always something missing, to my ears. Melody, maybe?

That clip was awesome. I had no idea that they made a video for "Puss," BTW.

9. Yeah, I never listen to their records anymore,
but the memories of all those amazing shows (I saw more than a dozen JL gigs - "no-life asthmaticeog," they called me) are indelible.

11. I never saw them live....
...but it was obvious just from looking at pictures from their shows in zines that they were a riveting live act. I mean, the singer exposes his balls on stage and falls down a lot. What's not to like?

I'm still a big fan of "Glamorous." I got it on my iPod and it's a great song to play when I'm pissed off at my coworkers.

15. One of the better shows I ever attended,
was Jesus Lizard and Don Caballero at the Beehive in 1992.

16. Absolutely awesome band....
Really just one of the most unique, original bands to come down the indie rock pike.
