How about we use Rush to raise funds for a new server?

That'll keep him from mentioning the site on the air -- and when Rush finally gets his "fix", we'll have a brand-spanking new server for all the greedy little freepers to visit.

just sue him. The rules historically have made it crystal clear that conservatives are not wanted here. Rush maliciously, through the power of his show, sends huge amounts of unwanted traffic. He knows it will happen when he does it. The servers are right for the membership but when Rush does this it causes huge amounts of traffic. But Rush has caused undue hardship and expense on DU by his irresponsible actions.

Let's see... his house is worth, what? $26 million...

How about this:

Every time we get mentioned somewhere, we've got this "pull in the sails" mode we go into -- low bandwidth, no frills, keep it as easy as we can so we don't crash the server. This is great. But here's the next logical step.

Next time we pull in the sails for a conservative invasion, stick an ad somewhere on the front page. Just temporarily. Take advantage of the sudden burst of traffic, whether it's to raise funds for ourselves or some other progressive cause that would drive the wingnuts batty.

And when we come back to normal, drop the ad. :shrug:
