Like over how the lights are going up. Or how you are breathing. Or letting the dog in our out.

Or whatever.

Cause I do.

2. Well my wife and I are fighting because one of our couple friends
is breaking up and she thinks I am taking the guys side. All I said was this; "Well, honey their might be more to the story than what Jessica is telling you. There are always to stories and the truth is usually somewhere in between."

3. Childhood regression
Tense times among our families at holiday times when we were children are often rekindled and replayed by us during the season. Much of it is programming. Don't do it to your children/ break the cycle. Reprogram with love kisses and hugs.

19. 100% worse this year
You'd think the birth of our son would have helped matters. Nope! My mother has gone so far off the deep end to us that my wife has declared they will never speak again and I am considering demanding she enter therapy before I begin to even consider forgiving her for the things she's said to me recently.

This year's Xmas is the worst ever family-wise, althought it's out 3-month baby's first so that's nice!

4. We had a five minute "discussion" about scotch tape...
We argued about what was better...clear tape or gift tape. What is wrong with us!? We never fight.

5. Winter Solstice
Is a time of great fear! The sun may not come back. Everybody bitchy about that possibility. I know I am concerned. Excuse me, I go do dance now.

6. Winter is a hard time for me
My only non depression winters were in college and when the year I worked second shift and biked to work. My husband has been picking on me for not wanting to do anything and be in an unhappy mood. That makes me even worse. Fortunately, I always get better in the spring.
We haven't hung lights as a couple yet. That's probably a good thing.

7. Clearly there is at least one positive facet of being a solitary
At least I am not arguing with myself.

I wonder how much of the holiday craziness is associated with the fear of adults being placed back into a pecking order they felt they had escaped? Consequently more than usual effort to reassert dominance...

8. Not with the SO this year
Edited on Sat Dec-20-03 06:55 PM by WWW
But inevitably someone always starts crying in the family the day we pick out and bring the Christmas tree home. 1. the tree isn't big enough, 2. the tree is too big, 3. the stand is broken, 4. the lights don't work, 5. the tree has fallen fully decorated, 6.I'M NOT GOING TO WATER IT, IT'S YOUR TREE! 7. the dog just urinated on the tree, 8. The cat just peed on the skirt, 9. there aren't enought presents under the tree, 10. there are too many presents under the tree, 11. the tree has fallen over again. Rinse and repeat. Just edited for spelling.

12. Who doesn't?...
In fact, I had a neighbor who thought my Manger Scene was 'obscene'. I tossed the camel at him and told him he'd look pretty damn funny in the ER with that camel's head sticking out of his ass! Get this, he was a Fundie to boot!

16. It's a stressful time for a lot of people,
the world is filled with cranky, edgy, hypersensitive people trying to coexist with others of their kind as well as the irritatingly perky.

Arguments over how the lights go up, how to hang the T.P., or the appropriate way to wield a scotch tape dispenser aren't about those things. They're ways of saying "I'm hurt, disappointed, angry and afraid and you're here."

You're a charming, witty, and quite wonderful man, Scooter. Find some downtime, do something you love just for yourself.

18. That's THE secret
You have a common enemy. ;-)

No issues for me. Fighting with myself just isn't any fun and neither is the making up, for that matter. :D
