1. I might give it a try, although...

...it does sound like yet another strained idea for a detective show. Increasingly, show producers appear to have to rely on bizarre or quirky characters to breathe new life into the old procedural drama genre. We've got the quirky and troubled Detective Goren in L&O CI, the obsessive/compuslive Mr. Monk, the faux-psychic in Psych, the 'real' psychic in The Dead Zone, the stereotypical genius mathematician in Numbers. It seems impossible to make a detective show these days without a detective that should be locked up for his own safety.

Bring back McMillian & Wife. All is forgiven.

Not bad, pretty gruesome but.. that's to be expected given the subject material.

5. The print ads on the subway literally make me ill.

I'll reserve some benefit of the doubt on the show, as I haven't watched it and don't plan to, so I suppose I can't really judge it, but honestly it seems like a really sick idea for a show if the print ads are giving the impression they're supposed to.
